As we witnessed with the COVID-19 pandemic, the onset of the AIDS epidemic caused widespread panic. It was especially tragic in the early days when, like with the coronavirus, there were unanswered questions about the virus’s origin and the manner in which it could spread. Initial reports found nearly all who contracted AIDS were homosexual men, intravenous drug users, hemophiliacs, and Haitians. About 700,000 Americans have died from AIDS since the disease was first reported four decades ago. In the early 1980s, there were sporadic reports about a serious flu-like illness affecting otherwise healthy, young gay men. There were also...

Until now men who have sex with men had to wait three months before donating. From Monday, gay men in sexually active, monogamous relationships can donate for the first time. Anyone who has had anal sex with a new or multiple partners in the past three months will have to wait three months to donate - regardless of their gender. It follows a review by the Fair (For the Assessment of Individualised Risk) steering group, which concluded switching to an individualised, gender-neutral approach was fairer and maintained the safety of the blood supply. The review's recommendations are to be implemented...

A group of five U.S. private rocket companies met with Brazilian officials in December. Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Vector are interested in launching from the equatorial Alcantara launch complex. The coastal launch site would offer cost savings by its ability to reach orbits often preferred for satellites. A group representing five U.S. private rocket companies visited Brazil in December to meet with the nation's space agency and analyze the possibility of launching from the equatorial Alcantara launch complex. The U.S. Department of Commerce was informed about the trip, which was organized by members of the private space industry. The group...

Monkey sentinels form our first line of defense against yellow fever & other diseases that have killed millions RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil; SINGHUDURG, India––Panic-driven monkey massacres are contributing to human illness and death, and perhaps could help to spark global epidemics, warn Brazilian health officials. A related “monkey fever” meanwhile raging in parts of India has recently jumped into new and very different habitat, also showing potential to spread far and wide. At issue is simian susceptibility to Flaviviridae viruses, carried by mosquitoes and ticks. Killing upward of 5,000 people per year, worldwide, flaviviruses are as deadly to South American...

Democratic [propaganda is all over the media right now, advocating for the total lifting of the ban on blood donations from "men who have sex with men." It is being treated as a "human rights" and "equality" issue by Democratic politicians, activists and sympathizers. A gay Democratic congressman, Jared Polis of Colorado, is calling for the ban to be lifted. And this: "On Tuesday, six members of the U.S. Congress (led by Representative Mike Quigley of Illinois, who is the vice chairman of the House LGBT Equality Caucus), sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Robert M. Califf requesting the agency...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)Spanish intelligence has intercepted messages passed between jihadists online discussing the weaponisation of the deadly Ebola virus for use against the West, while a blackmailer in Prague has threatened to unleash the virus unless the Czech Republic pay him one million bitcoin, a volume of online currency worth over £200 million. The national secretary of state for security in giving evidence to the Spanish Senate revealed online jihad propagandists had issued an edict to followers to kill Westerners by any means possible. Some of the methods suggested included “deadly chemical products from laboratories”, “poisonous injections” and “Ebola as a poisonous...

On Monday, a team of researchers led by doctors from the University of California at San Francisco announced that gay men were “many times more likely than others” to acquire a new strain of drug-resistant staphylococcus, a nasty, fast-spreading and potential lethal bacteria known as MRSA USA300. And sure enough, the study, published online in the Annals of Internal Medicine, was quickly picked up by reporters round the world and across the Internet, including a London tabloid which dubbed the disease “the new H.I.V.”

Our daughter (recent HS grad) received a letter today from Vector, a marketing company. They market knives from a company called Cutco. Apparently, people who work for them do telemarketing to generate leads, then make appointments to visit prospective customers to show and (if possible) sell knives. The student workers have to pay about $140 (as a deposit) for a sample set of knives that they show. The worker gets paid about $15-$18 per appointment they make, regardless of whether a sale occurs. If they do make a sale, they get a percentage as a commission. I have my suspicions,...

HIV infections among homosexual and bisexual men in the United States rose 8 percent last year, after remaining relatively stable the three previous years, new federal data show. The increase for the virus that causes AIDS compares with average annual declines of 4 percent among heterosexuals and 9 percent among intravenous-drug users from 2001 to 2004, according to a report in this week's issue of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report. The CDC said the recent increase in diagnosed HIV infections among men who have sex with other men "may reflect increases in HIV...

WASHINGTON, November 18, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – While the rates for new cases of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, have been on the decline among heterosexuals and intravenous drug users, US health officials are expressing alarm at an eight percent increase in HIV rates in homosexual and bisexual men in one year.Measuring the increase in prevalence of the virus from 2003 to 2004, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the 8% rise in cases among men who commit sodomy with men, “was statistically significant” for the 33 states that reported on HIV cases, according to the...

Will and his partner are like a well-oiled machine when it comes to making their morning coffee. Will, wanted to donate blood: We never had a fight. Never had one fight. They have been in a monogamous relationship for five years and recently the couple was moved by the images of the devastation left behind by hurricane Katrina. Will: I went to donate blood, because I felt like I needed to do something for the hurricane victims. But before will could even roll up his sleeves, he was told his blood was unwanted. The reason - it wasn't because he...

Biowarfare : Another “Sverdlosk Incident” in Russia ? I’ve been looking at two recent (and ongoing) outbreaks of Tularemia in Russia: (Source: ProMed : Archives # 20050824.2503; # 20050822.2467; # 20050718.2066 ) 1. 96 people –66 from Dzerzhinsk region; 30 from Nizhniy Novogorod. 2. 56 people – all from the Ryazan area , which borders on Nizhniy Novogorod and Vladimir. What makes it notable is that Tularemia is a fairly rare disease: the Ryazan area had only 4 known cases in 2004. (No historic stats were furnished on the Nizhniy Novgoros area or Dzerzhinsk , but the number of cases...

Some of you may have read posts here about a Russian scientist, working in the notorious Vector lab, who accidentally injected herself while trying to inject guinea pigs with Ebola virus. I'm trying to imagine why the Vector lab-recipient of considerable US financial assistance (given to help Russia clean up its horrendous biowarfare program ) is still fooling around with Ebola. Humanitarian reasons ? I'm having trouble picturing cash-starved Russia suddenly getting dewey-eyed over the plight of Suffering Africa, and working night and day on a cure for Ebola. Given the fact (so far) Human Ebola is known to infect only humans,why...

NEW ORLEANS, May 24 - A Russian scientist at a former Soviet biological weapons laboratory in Siberia has died after accidentally sticking herself with a needle laced with ebola, the deadly virus for which there is no vaccine or treatment, the lab's parent Russian center announced over the weekend. Scientists and officials said the accident had raised concerns about safety and secrecy at the State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology, known as Vector, which in Soviet times specialized in turning deadly viruses into biological weapons. Vector has been a leading recipient of aid in an American program to help...
