    The NAACP is asking the U.S. Department of Justice to begin an independent investigation into officer-involved shootings by the Columbus Division of Police. A letter sent this week to the Justice Department follows the death of 13-year-old Tyre King, who was shot and killed by Officer Bryan Mason Sept. 14 after police say King robbed a man at gunpoint, then pulled the gun from the waistband of his pants as Mason chased him.
