I see a lot of comments about what Biden is screwing up and there are many ways. Let's pretend you have a year, a cooperating Congress, and a mandate to turn the economy around as President, what would you do? (I know, a lot of ifs especially regarding Congress, but work with me here). Better yet, to stave off the "Let's vote Trump in and let him do it" voices, what would Trump have to do to turn the economy around if he were to take charge tomorrow? I also hear a lot of "you just can't turn the oil...

(By Kelsey Hall: Kelsey is a Navy wife, mom, and native West Coaster on her fifth (non-consecutive) year living in California. She has a background in strategic planning and program analysis and enjoys deep dives into public policy.)How to win back California from the edge of insanity:1. Cancel the disastrous high-speed rail project: We’re years behind schedule, billions over budget, and nowhere near finishing this project. Let’s quit while we’re behind. While we absolutely want to see a revolution in transportation, this is not that. It’s time to move on. Californians deserve to see their money put to better use...

Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci on Wednesday addressed the ongoing fight to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Fauci shared in that at this time, the White House coronavirus task force is seeing “glimmers of hope” because, as bad as this week will predictably be for deaths, the American public should start to see “the beginning of a turnaround” soon.

It didn’t take long for progressives to turn on Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii) after she announced Friday that she was throwing her hat in the ring for 2020. Her cardinal sin? Not only did she previously hold anti-gay views—she actively worked against the LGBT community through her father’s organization, The Alliance for Traditional Marriage and Values, in the early 2000s.

MATTAWAN, Mich. — Sandbags were holding back floodwaters in parts of Michigan as a storm system moved across several Midwest and Great Plains states on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain, snow and ice to the region. The weather has already been blamed for hundreds of car crashes and several fatalities, including the deaths of four people in a crash along a slippery interstate in Nebraska.

Secretary of State Clinton, in a sharp departure from her stance when she was a senator, is warning that any American action, even symbolically, toward recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel must be avoided for the reason that it would jeopardize the peace process. Her warnings were issued in a brief she has just filed with the Supreme Court — in which she is arguing that a law she voted for when she was Senator is unconstitutional because it could require the U.S. government to give to an American citizen born at Jerusalem papers showing the birthplace as Israel.

Market watchers and technical analysts have often pointed out that financial markets often turn-around, in one direction or the other, on Tuesdays, specifically at about 10:15am. So, if history repeats itself and the pattern holds true, perhaps we will see a bounce tomorrow and a rally to a lower high in the stock market (a short-term high that is lower than the high in stock prices set back in July, hence a lower high). Technical analysts look at the cycles, trends and movement of markets in price and time, which is different from fundamental analysis which focuses on the underlying...

Saw a post today from someone who was an Obama supporter but who now regrets that support very much and is slowly but surely becoming educated and aware of the deception that was perpetrated to get Obambi into power. Met a table full of people at the Tea Party Nation convention banquet who were in the Tea Party movement but who had never heard of Free Republic (and of course, recommended FR to them all). Wondering if those who may be new to FR from either of these domains might want to post some comments.

We gave you all the details on the 2010 Ford Fusion, Fusion Sport, and 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid at the break of day and now we've got the live reveal from the floor of the LA Auto Show. The trio of Fusionistas made their debut moments ago to bombastic loads of PR praise. If the improvements Ford is touting stand up to scrutiny, the Fusion stands to make some serious waves in the C/D sedan segment. We approve pretty solidly of the styling changes, the six speed manual and auto on the regular Fusion and the well thought out hybrid...

Sacramento -- The gushing introduction of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger at a recent reception made some in the audience uneasy as the speaker ratcheted up the praise. "In the last couple of months, we've proven that California can come together and set our ideological differences aside to move forward, and I'm proud to say that our governor has California back on track," he said. "California is once again, my friends, on the move thanks largely to this man, the governor of our great state and a good friend of mine, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger." The tribute that day in May didn't come...

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Training in five key career fields restarts for 400 Airmen here Sept. 19, six months sooner than base officials forecasted more than a week ago. Then, more students will start training the following week, said Col. Jessie Canaday, 81st Training Group commander. And more students will gradually enter training each week after that as this base continues to recover from the pounding it took from Hurricane Katrina. Air Force officials determined what training would start based on the service’s critical needs, said the colonel, commander of the Air Force’s largest training group. “We’re taking...

WASHINGTON - For the first time in at least three years, the nation's governors are headed for their annual meetings here wearing something other than long faces.

After one of the worst sieges of budget-cutting and general economic misery in decades, state governments are sensing a turnaround. With revenues once again on the rise, nearly half of the states say this year's tax receipts are likely to come in ahead of forecasts, according to a new survey by the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Greenspan: Signs of a 'fairly marked turnaround' in U.S. economy 06/03/2003 Associated Press BERLIN - Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan said Tuesday he sees indications of a "fairly marked turnaround" in the U.S. economy. Data for May suggest the economy has "stabilized," he told a conference of top central bankers in Berlin. "The acceleration has not yet begun," he said, before noting that recovering stock markets and other indications "are suggestive of a fairly marked turnaround." Recent productivity gains and the impact of tax cuts taking effect July 1 will likely boost consumer spending and feed into the job market,...
