We gave you all the details on the 2010 Ford Fusion, Fusion Sport, and 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid at the break of day and now we've got the live reveal from the floor of the LA Auto Show. The trio of Fusionistas made their debut moments ago to bombastic loads of PR praise. If the improvements Ford is touting stand up to scrutiny, the Fusion stands to make some serious waves in the C/D sedan segment. We approve pretty solidly of the styling changes, the six speed manual and auto on the regular Fusion and the well thought out hybrid system on the twin powered model.
The 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid will join the Mariner as the second hybrid offering from Ford's brand for people who love Jill Wagner. The next-generation hybrid system, similar to the one found in the Mariner, will couple Ford's 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor backed by a new smaller, lighter nickel-metal hydride battery. The new hybrid should be capable of running on pure electric mode at speeds up to 47 MPH, meaning the car can operate in most city and neighborhood conditions without using the gas engine for direct power. This means one full tank of gas could theoretically propel the Milan 700 miles in city driving. There's no official number on the mileage of the Milan Hybrid, but we've been told to expect around five miles per gallon better than the Camry Hybrid's highway performance (34 mpg), which would put it between 38 and 40 mpg, an impressive number for sure. Additionally, the Milan will get Ford's futuristic Smartgauge LCD instrument panel. Full details in the press release below.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if I was going to buy a brand new car at this point, the FUSION would definately be on my list of serious considerations.
European style crap wagons for America! Wheeeee!
America = Big Cars and Open Drilling, not bassackwards regression.
Ford is the only “American” car company that at least partially gets it.
If the would import the 65 mpg car here, I’d buy one.
When they make one that saves money as well as gas, I’ll think about it.
Or Mazda 6, snice both of these vehicles and most of Ford’s products now use the Mazda 6 chassis and have for a while.
Limbaugh put it best on his radio show yesterday: Best thing we could do for the auto industry is open up domestic drilling. Drill, baby, drill.
My coworker has a Fusion (2006 I think?). It’s a great car. Very reliable thus far, comfortable, handles nicely.
They loved it so much that they just purchased an Edge. And gee, Ford gave them 0% financing. I thought no one was lending money?
These kick the Camry's but by greater than 6 mpg and it isn't good enough?
Beam me up Scotty....
Price?? MRSP??
The Wife and I bought a 2006 Fusion. We love it. Best car I’ve ever had.
Three-legged hosses—all of them!
BigBroMoFo has imposed all this crap on us since 1963 with theor PCV (postitive crankcase ventilation)a little gizmo that cost a half-dollar and could be installed in the line to yer carneurator easily—no sweat, huh? Yeah right—then they turned the heat up!
We now drive those little cars like the ones we used to laugh at from Europe and Japan.
And, each year there has been more and more environMENTAL devices on our cars, as well as beeps, whistles and other sounds to warn you that you have violated one or more federal rules—another thing Detroit has had to install by federal law!
And, with all the electronic stuff under yer hood, the common man can no longer fix minor automotive problems himself.
The time is long past that we can get BigBroMoFo off our @$$es and Detroits as well—they really got us in a bind now, folks—but we still want a king don’t we???!!!
And we’ll fight for our kings as well as vote for the b@sturds!
Semper Deserving!

Don’t know, but 2010 means fall 09’ unless they are scheduled to be here earlier. Email Ford and ask them at the Corp Site?
More crap out of Detroit.
Nice to see you have taken the Dale Carniege Course on: “How to make Friends and Influence People” recently....
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
Well the Hybrid fact doesn’t do much for me, but the car has nice lines and would meet my needs at this point in my life nicely. Now don’t get me wrong if I could get insane mileage without having to pay insanely more up front I’d consider it, but the fact it now has a hybrid isn’t why I’d seriously consider it.
Its simply the fact its a nice looking car, that meets my requirements at a reasonable price point relatively speaking.
I’d dig into the numbers on it more if I was seriously buying, reliability, performace etc.
Ford can build great exciting cars, Ford Europe has been doing it for years, sadly until recently they haven’t taken that and applied it to the US market. Lately though they seem to be getting it.
You can't work on anything from anywhere, I am with you on that one.
All I ask is you go drive one, you may be surprised. Thankx, Taildragger
2009 BUICK LUCERNE.......
I drive an ‘04 Scion xB. It has scads of head and leg room, was bloody inexpensive, and gets 30 to 35 MPG. It’s got almost 100k miles on it with just standard maintanance. No major repairs. Why if God’s name would I want one of these weenie, overpriced hybrids? :)
