Donald Trump is considering offering every Greenlander $1million – £750,000 – if they vote to join the United States. The US President yesterday ruled out using force to seize the Arctic island and is instead focused on enticing the people to secede from Denmark. If he made the vast payment to all 57,000 inhabitants of the strategically vital territory, the cost could hit £42.5billion. While the plan sounds outlandish, the price tag is a fraction of the £595billion the US spends on defence each year. It would also remove Greenland's reliance on Denmark for grants and reshape the island's economy....

When President Trump sent American forces into Venezuela and walked out with Nicolás Maduro in handcuffs, the world took notice. Critics called it reckless. Supporters called it overdue. But while the chattering class debated the raid’s legality, the administration was already eyeing its next move on the global chessboard. The Arctic has quietly become one of the most contested regions on the planet. Russian vessels patrol waters they haven’t touched in decades. Chinese “research” ships appear with uncomfortable regularity near strategic chokepoints. And no, these aren’t fever dreams from hawkish think tanks — this is happening right now. Sitting in...

News flash for Vanity Fair magazine and leftist Icelandic singer Björk!An independent Greenland would be several orders of magnitude easier for the United States to bring into the fold than if it were to remain part of Denmark. And yet this is what Björk is demanding with Vanity Fair acting as her cheerleader. You can read this hilariously misguided effort by Vanity Fair (and Björk) to somehow stop Trump in Tuesday's story by Kahina Sekkai, "Björk Has a Plan to Save Greenland From Donald Trump."

Should Trump really risk acquiring Greenland as a territory? I'm surprised the Democrats aren't already smirking and hissing, "Go for it, Donnie!" They'd be thrilled to have a mix of disgruntled, race baiting Eskimos and entitled Eurotrash Danes demanding statehood. As with Washington D.C., Greenland would give the 'Rat party an automatic two new AOC type senators and one Congress person if it were to join the Union. Maybe Greenland's slender population of 56,000 would preclude statehood? Maybe enough fishermen, miners, oil field roughnecks, and other red blooded Americans would move into Greenland by the time the issue of statehood...

President Trump again threatened on Friday to forcibly annex Greenland, saying that he was “going to do something on Greenland, whether they like it or not.” In a White House event discussing his plans to have American companies exploit Venezuela’s vast oil reserves under the threat of a military blockade, Mr. Trump advanced an imperialist vision of American foreign policy, where the U.S. must dominate strategically important neighboring countries because of the perceived possibility that rival powers might do so first. “If we don’t do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland,” Mr. Trump said, falsely suggesting that Greenland,...

Keir Starmer told his French and German counterparts that Nato must 'step up' operations in the Arctic today as they are frantically trying to stop Donald Trump seizing Greenland. The PM discussed the brewing row over US threats with Emmanuel Macron and Friedrich Merz in a phone call. European leaders have backed Denmark in a dispute with Mr Trump that has sparked fears the military alliance could be torn apart. Sir Keir held a second call with the American president in just two days last night. Downing Street said he had argued that Europe was defending the Arctic from Russia...

Apparently, Tuesday was Greenland Day in the news cycle. On that day, not only did a mining company in Greenland literally strike gold, but the Danish and Greenland Ministers for Foreign Affairs have both reached out for what they describe as a special meeting with our Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is the Chuck Berry of Washington: The hardest-working guy in government, except perhaps the president. It's not known what Denmark and Greenland wish to discuss, but whatever it is, they seem to want to do it sooner rather than later. Greenland and Denmark have reportedly requested a special...

Greenland is now shifted from the US European Command area of responsibility to the US Northern Command area of responsibility. The change will strengthen the defense of the US homeland and contribute to deepening relationships with Arctic allies, according to Pentagon’s chief spokesperson. The US Northern Command is taking over command of US military operations in and around Greenland from the US European Command. The shift was initiated after an order from US President Donald Trump, as informed by the US Department of Defense last week. "Consistent with the President's intent and the Interim National Defense Strategic Guidance, this change...

A new trailer for the upcoming docuseries “Trans in Trumpland” opens with ominous music as Donald Trump is heard in voiceover saying, “I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens.” There’s no question that Trump, who was impeached for a second time on Wednesday, did not fulfill his promise. In fact, LGBTQ activists rightfully argue that Trump used his power to roll back the rights and protections of trans Americans. For the four-part “Trans in Trumpland,” director Tony Zosherafatain traveled to the red states of North Carolina, Texas, Mississippi and Idaho throughout the last four years...
