A total of 51,512 cards were printed for $9.99 each, and the cards sold out in 24 hours, setting a record for the company. “That is a combination of humbling and really embarrassing,” Fauci, said about the sales record during ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Wednesday. Now, hundreds of people are already reselling individual Fauci cards on eBay. The bids currently start as low as $1.99, but some sellers have set “buy now” prices as high as $9,995.00, hoping people will pay top-dollar or provide a counter-offer. Dr. Anthony Fauci threw an abysmal first pitch to kick off the historic 2020 Major League Baseball season. But fans of the renowned disease expert clearly don't mind. A Topps baseball card with a masked Fauci mid-pitch just became the bestselling card in the history of ToppsNow, the company's collection of limited-edition cards. ToppsNow cards are available for only 24 hours on the Topps site. More than 51,500 Faucis were sold when the card hit the site last week, the company said Monday.

After throwing the ceremonial first pitch before Thursday night's MLB season opener, Dr. Anthony Fauci now has a baseball card of his own. Even though his pitch was way off the mark, Topps honored Fauci with a baseball card on Friday. The front shows a picture of Fauci on the mound -- wearing a mask -- letting the ball go, without showing where it landed.

A young Mets fan cried foul Sunday after a baseball memorabilia site suddenly balked at selling a bat signed by Daniel Murphy after his record-breaking stretch of home runs. Will Smith, of Long Island City, used $175 of his birthday money to buy a bat signed by Daniel Murphy from Topps.com for his 12th birthday. During the series against the Cubs, the bat was in stock online. And a customer service rep even promised Will’s parents the Louisville Slugger would arrive in time for the big day on Nov. 3. But the order was suddenly canceled after the Mets star...

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be added to Topps' repertoire of trading cards next week as part of its series featuring the main political players on the 2008 campaign trail. One card will show Palin taking the oath of office as Alaska's governor in a black suit — much like the 12 collector cards issued earlier showing Barack Obama, John McCain, Joe Biden and others. But Palin will also be featured on a second, limited-edition card as an Alaskan beauty pageant contestant in the 1980s.
