Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives have launched a probe into what appears to be a secret deputy clique within the department's elite gang unit, an investigation triggered by the discovery of a document suggesting the group embraces shootings as a badge of honor. The document described a code of conduct for the Jump Out Boys, a clique of hard-charging, aggressive deputies who gain more respect after being involved in a shooting, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation. The pamphlet is relatively short, sources said, and explains that deputies earn admission into the group through the endorsement of members....

SNIPPET: "While Hizb ut-Tahrir, a pro-jihadist group which met openly near Chicago last weekend, is surprisingly candid about its desire to re-establish an Islamic Caliphate, literature available at its conference shows the group also views Christians and Jews as untrustworthy enemies of God. More than a dozen issues of a Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) newsletter called The Shield were obtained from the conference by the Investigative Project on Terrorism. The publication repeatedly condemns interfaith "outreach initiatives" and shows HT believes in the death penalty for Muslims who leave the faith. HT pushes a radical ideology that is similar to Al Qaeda,...

Just wondering---we have a live thread for "24" but I've never seen one for "The Shield," and there have to be some Vic Mackey fans out there. So, who wants to discuss that incredible season finale?

Wow- I really have a lot of respect for normal police officers, and despise a dirty cop even more than I do a terrorist... Watching "The Shield" IS kind of like 'picking a scab' but I'm addicted to the darn show. Tonight's new episode was very intriguing, even moreso than usual. Bunch of good actors in that show. I just wish Vic and his team were completely honest. Other than being part time crooks, they are darn good cops. Tonights show was even more intriguing than usual.... But the ending answered TOO many questions.
