Secret clique in L.A. County sheriff's gang unit probed (The Jump Out Boys)

Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives have launched a probe into what appears to be a secret deputy clique within the department's elite gang unit, an investigation triggered by the discovery of a document suggesting the group embraces shootings as a badge of honor.

The document described a code of conduct for the Jump Out Boys, a clique of hard-charging, aggressive deputies who gain more respect after being involved in a shooting, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation. The pamphlet is relatively short, sources said, and explains that deputies earn admission into the group through the endorsement of members.

The sources stressed that the internal affairs investigation is still in its early stages and that little is known about the Jump Out Boys' behavior or its membership.

Still, sheriff's officials are concerned that the group represents another unsanctioned clique within the department's ranks, a problem the department has been grappling with for decades.

Gangs in law enforcement. They should have done an episode on History Channel's Gangland.

Well there was the movie Extreme Justice about the LAPD's (not Sheriffs Department) super secret Special Investigation Section starring Diamond Phillips and Scott Glenn. I rather enjoyed that one.

Shooting old Ladies and stopping pets to death I am sure earn these slugs their “colors”.

There is something about California that breeds gangs of all types. There is a wiki listing of some of the non-black street gangs (note: they have seriously censored, consolidated, reduced, and limited these listings):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_California_street_gangs

Going way back, California was one of the original ‘vigilante’ states, and over the years have hosted an enormous number of gangs of all types.

The comments at the site suggest that these officers are the largest and best-organized gang of criminals.

Both, actually. The movie was Magnum Force (a.k.a Dirty Harry 2)

and the TV series was The Shield.

Report: "Secret clique in L.A. County sheriff's gang unit probed (The Jump Out Boys)"

Response: An inevitable progression towards needed Death Squads.

Comment: In general, our formal legal system favors our society's criminal element. Various "wars" are declared that are not really wars. Real war involves shooting people and breaking things. For example, the Taliban stopped the Afghan heroin trade by going out to the producers and breaking their legs, shooting them etc. That is a war on drugs. Simply shooting gang leaders, breaking the gang soldiers legs would eliminate the gangs. It would not be nice but there would be no gangs and no drugs.

“Going way back, California was one of the original ‘vigilante’ states...”

The vigilance committees started in San Francisco to combat gangs and corrupt police/politicians. Of course, in those days the gangs were Irish, Chinese, and, I kid you not, Australian. In fact, the Australian gangs were known for setting arson fires and looting just ahead of the flames.

It was called the Barbary Coast for a reason.
