Just wondering---we have a live thread for "24" but I've never seen one for "The Shield," and there have to be some Vic Mackey fans out there. So, who wants to discuss that incredible season finale?

Seemed like a rather weak ending IMO and a set up for next season that won't get here for another year. More like a tease.

I really should get a ping list started but I'm not on FR enough. I really think Shane is a dead man walking, its just a matter of time now.

Do I get a live thread for Sally Jesse Raphael or shall I sulk here alone, unloved, in the virtual cyberdark?

I think Dr. Baltar is dreaming the season ending episode of 'The Shield.'

Any chance Lem survives (in a coma in ICU, perhaps)? The VCR cut off the last minute.

He is kaputz. Too bad because I really liked his character - although I though the strike team would have thrown him in the furnace with all that money he burned.

I really had hoped that Vic would take out Forrest Whitaker in the finale.

No, the difference between this and "24" is that in this series, they STAY dead. Too bad. Next to Vic, and the hot little Hispana, Lem was my favorite. And it was never clear: what WAS he doing with that brick, anyway? He wasn't a dealer.

It's interesting that the only two guys on the team who really didn't break the law (except to withhold information on Vic and Shane) were Lem and Ronnie. Yet Ronnie got his face nearly burned off two years ago, and now Lem gets killed.

Honestly, I thought somehow the writers were going to whack Forrest Whitaker and make it look like the former Captain did it.

Going to list some random fav moments from the Shield, feel free to join:

1st episode from 1st season...

Vic alone in interrogation room with child molester.

Vic pulls out a phone book and a bottle of liquor from a paper bag...

CM: "whats this?

Vic: " These are the things I'm going to use to get you to tell me where that little girl is."

CM: "Who are you , the good cop or the bad cop?"

Vic: " The good cop and bad cop went home for the day, I'm a different kind of cop."

Picks up phone book, proceeds to beat him with it.

The only weekly show I try to watch other than Deep Sea Detectives. I thought this ending sucked, I liked Lem and Shane, and now they're both ruined. Not too many likeable characters left here.

Shane has been a luck SOB in the Shield universe. He's probably the most corrupt cop on the team and yet he's skated through the disasters almost unharmed. Remember him getting ambushed in Mexico? Or killing off Vic's CI while in Vice? But the stuff with Antwon may just be the thing that catches up with him, you notice how the writers haven't written him off the show.

Technically speaking, we are only midway through this "season", I believe. There are rumors this is it and there will be some sort of resolution. I think there has to be.

Lol. I loved it when Vic and Lem were watching Kavanaugh's (hot) wife melt down (she's way to hot for Forest Whitaker), and then got busted!

Oh, and the rapper-turned-drug dealer Vic called "M.C. Has-been."

Or when Antoine told Vic he needed Vic's team to escort his men inside the police warehouse and take care of the guard, and Vic said, "That's not an escord, that's a hooker and a handjob!"

Well, that's the strength of the show: just when you think Vic is teetering to total corruption, he'll go through a half-a-season where he's Superman and Marshal Dillon. I really liked how he and Glenn Close worked things out, sort of like, "Don't ask, don't tell, and don't leave bodies." But every time Vic has started to become Darth Vader, the writers bring out his Annakin.

It was called the "season finale," and now "Thief" (also and EXCELLENT show) is running.
