On Sept. 21, 2016, two days after Hillary Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann gave then-FBI General Counsel James Baker info about a supposed digital back channel between the Trump Organization and Moscow-based Alfa Bank, agent Joe PIENTKA texted colleague Curtis Heide: “People on 7th floor to include Director are fired up about this server.” Snip “Did you guys open a case? Reachout [sic] and put tools on?” Pientka asked. “If not I will call Dan as Priestap says its [sic] not an option – we must do it.” Later in the day, PIENTKA told Heide that a unit would be...

Abortion activists opposing the 20-week abortion ban bill in Texas have drawn national attention for chanting “Hail Satan” while pro-life advocates sang Amazing Grace. Now, a Twitter account run by actual Satanists is distancing itself from the pro-abortion activists. You know the abortion proponents have gone too far when even lovers of the Devil himself are disclaiming the comments.

House Resolution 615 Over the past few weeks, members of Congress and the American people have come to know the details of the Administration's proposed health care plan. Call it whatever you like, I believe this proposal is nothing more than government-run health care. As a physician, I am amazed at the number of bureaucrats in this House who are quick to claim a government-run health care plan is the reform this country needs. In response to this, I have offered a resolution that will offer members of Congress an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is, and...

FORWARD OPERATING BASE RUSTAMIYAH — Iraqi Soldiers and police officers creep in file along the dusty path, ignoring or pretending to ignore the escalating heat. Their boots hitting the dusty trail are the only sound, the lonely road the only scenery. Suddenly, one of them notices a large white delivery truck parked off the road amongst some trees. While the rest pull security, he checks the deliveryman and his truck for any weapons or explosives. Everything is okay, so the patrol sets off again. Throughout the day there are other challenges, such as angry mobs and suspicious boxes. It’s all...

RADWANIYAH — As efforts continue to return normalcy to Iraqi citizens around the country, security often takes center stage. However, ensuring safety is only one part of delivering Iraq from decades of repression and stagnation under Saddam Hussein. Coalition forces are also working to empower Iraqis to take part in the economic restoration of their country. On Sept. 2, Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers and local Iraqi staff celebrated the grand opening of the al-Bashair Center for Micro-Finance at the Radwaniyah Civil Military Operations Center. The center’s opening was the culmination of an 11-month project under the combined efforts of...

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - State and local wildlife experts are trying to figure out what led more than a thousand flounder, spot and pin fish to beach themselves at the Marine Corps' New River air base — and then swim away. They believe it may be related to a popular phenomenon known in coastal Alabama as "jubilee." The fish surfaced in shallow water Friday morning. They were lethargic, but alive. "It's kind of strange," said Mike Sanderford, New River Riverkeeper. "It's a bunch of fish up here, but they're not dead. They're almost docile." When he arrived, Sanderford said, the fish...

SACRAMENTO (AP) - Each holds a statewide office that provides a built-in public relations platform, has millions of dollars in his campaign fund and a roster of big-name endorsements. What the two leading Democratic candidates for governor lack is household name recognition. That factor likely means a costly primary campaign between state Treasurer Phil Angelides and state Controller Steve Westly. "They both have to introduce themselves to the voters," said Thomas Hollihan, associate dean of the Annenberg School for Communications at the University of Southern California. "They are going to have to distinguish themselves from each other as well as...

House Dems stoke the fire By Josephine Hearn House Democratic leaders yesterday distanced themselves from Howard Dean’s fiery rhetoric, saying that the outspoken Democratic Party chairman’s recent controversial statements do not speak for them. Their comments echoed Sen. Joseph Biden (Del.) and former senator and vice presidential candidate John Edwards (N.C.), who took issue over the weekend with Dean’s recent statement that “a lot of [Republicans] have never made an honest living in their lives.” Dean’s penchant for harsh rhetoric has drawn criticism several times already since he took the helm of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in February. Last...

Good, despite themselves Article Last Updated: Thursday, August 05, 2004 - 12:54:17 PM MST By DONALD KAUL, Retired Washington columnist, Des Moines Register The Democratic National Convention got off to a rip-roaring start last week with its parade of Golden Oldies - President Jimmy, Uncrowned Prince Al and, of course, Big Bill. Taken together, their speeches constituted the best first day of a political convention in memory. The trio managed to offer a scathing critique of the Bush Administration's preemptive-war strategy, as well as his reverse Robin Hood economic policies, without getting too personal about the president himself (although Jimmy...

Fussy eaters 'may be protecting themselves' Children who won't eat their fruit and vegetables could be demonstrating an evolutionary trait designed to protect them from harm. Cancer Research UK scientists found fussy children were particularly wary of certain types of foods such as greens, fruit and meat. The authors, writing in the journal Appetite, suggest children may have evolved a natural suspicion of foods with the potential to upset their stomachs. The researchers hope that by understanding the reasons behind children's fussiness, ways can be found to encourage them to eat more healthily. Scientists at University College London questioned whether...

The American Civil Liberties Union for Utah may attempt to force the LDS Church to put a fence around the Main Street Plaza. "The irony is — depending on how this goes — that we might be the ones pressing them to put up gates and make this thing look like it's more private and actually have less public access," said Dani Eyer, executive director for the ACLU for Utah. And in another plaza twist, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints could be required to spend several hundred thousand dollars, in addition to the 2.1 acres of land...

NEW ORLEANS -- The Republican playbook for deposing Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana was fine-tuned in Washington and battle-tested with glorious results elsewhere in the South: Recruit a plausible challenger. Unleash attack ads skewering the Democrat on taxes and abortion. And for the grand finale, bring in President Bush to campaign at the Republican candidate's side. But something went wrong in the Bayou State. Landrieu, who just a week ago seemed to fit the GOP blueprint's definition of a vulnerable incumbent, held off the challenge and won a convincing victory in a runoff election Saturday. She beat the Republican, elections...

A man on a motorbike hurled a stick of dynamite at a Palestinian checkpoint Saturday, lightly wounding one man, officials said. The attack occurred at 6.40am at a barrier manned by the Palestinian Armed Struggle group at one of the entrances to the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp near Sidon, officials said speaking on condition of anonymity. Palestinian camp officials said that the assailant escaped on his motorbike after throwing the dynamite. The motive for the incident has yet to be determined, but the refugee camp has been a frequent scene of internecine fighting among Palestinians. On Wednesday, an 18-year-old Palestinian...
