Frankly, if I hear the phrase "Obama's Katrina" one more time to refer to the President's response to the oil spill, I think I will scream. It reminds of the annoying need that many feel to stick the word -gate on the end of any presidential scandal. I lament this really lazy habit of the media. We can understand each situation well enough to make our own judgments without constant and faulty comparisons to old scandals or problems. This is not Obama's Katrina, its Obama's oil spill. Now it should go without saying that I do not believe that government...

Yesterday, Obama attempted to be hip and cool and tried to show some emotional investment in the BP oil crisis that is rapidly becoming Obama’s Katrina by showing BP that he meant business: I was down there a month ago, before most of these talkin’ heads were even paying attention to the gulf. A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there, standin’ in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be. and I don’t sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar, we talk to these folks because they potentially have...
  • I would have fired BP chief by now, Obama says (He's no longer a wimpy Wee Wee alert)

President Barack Obama would have fired BP's CEO Tony Hayward over controversial comments downplaying the Gulf oil spill — if the executive had been working for him. During an interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's TODAY broadcast Tuesday, the president added his voice to calls for Hayward's resignation amid claims from a former EPA lawyer that BP is a "recurring environmental criminal." Some 25 million to 39 million gallons of oil are estimated to have gone into the Gulf of Mexico since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on April 20, killing 11 workers. The BP executive last month complained...

When it comes to heart-wrenching images, forget about those oil-plunged pelicans. What appears to really move Norah O'Donnell is the plight of . . . Pres. Obama's White House staffers. Check out the very end of the video clip from today's Morning Joe and see if it doesn't seem that O'Donnell gets choked up as she describes Obama aides waking up in the middle of the night with nightmares of gushing oil. • Bummed-out Obama Fans: 'You Don't Feel The Leadership'

Like tar balls on a Pensacola beach, doubts about Pres. Obama's leadership are beginning to accumulate even among his most avid supporters appearing in the MSM. Today's Morning Joe gave two prime examples of the phenomenon in the persons of Jeffrey Sachs and Donny Deutsch. Both men are self-described Obama supporters. Yet each expressed disappointment at the lack of leadership the president has demonstrated on the oil spill and other issues. Columbia U. professor Sachs went first, sounding like a serious candidate for a Zoloft transfusion. View video here.

So many parties, so little time. You are Barack Obama, and you know how to party. And now, as oil hits the Florida beaches and dying wildlife and desperate Louisiana fishermen fill the cable news in searing testimony to what Reuters is calling our "worst environmental disaster," you are doing what you do best...party. Your bureaucrats have been saying "No we can't" to request after request for assistance along the Gulf Coast, but for you it has been "Yes we can" as you spend taxpayer dollars on entertainment at a greater rate than any U.S. president. Your parties have averaged...
