This Star Wars property reaches out to us as a familiar friend who wants to talk about more than the times long past. As many have pointed out, the Skywalker story and the galaxy of interconnected characters and legends amounts to the great modern myth of our time. Right now, however, being a Star Wars fan hurts. Marvel will continue to gain on and outpace Star Wars in popularity with younger generations and make more money at the box office (remember those?), but it will never mean what Star Wars does to the Force faithful. That’s why Star Wars fans...
  • Just Cancelled Cable Because They Refuse to Block News Channels

I called Comcast to see if they had an offering that offered ONLY SPORTS. They don't. I can order OANN without having to pay for bundling anywhere. Why can't I buy sports channels, TCM, no local channels, and no globalist propaganda? So I cancelled cable. I'm shopping for alternatives, but it doesn't appear that there are any that offer just sports. Yeah, the leagues are definitely a problem, but eventually they respond to the only vote that seems to matter to them - your dollars. It's time to cancel something that really needs to be cancelled. What tipped me over...

I live out in the country. My TV options suck. No cable and only Dish Network or DirecTV (AT&T). And my internet options sucked even bigger. Satellite service with maybe 25 mbps. Monthly costs were about $130.00. Each. Over $260.00 a month for low rate TV and internet. But finally! My electric company finally got Fiber internet service available. Unlimited data with plans from 25 - 50 - 75 - 150 - 300 - even more mbps. So now I'm satellite free and ecstatic. I picked the 150 mbps plan at $80.00 per month. But now, what about TV? There's no cable, but...
  • Weekend Box Office: Moviegoing Slows to a Standstill Amid Historic August Slump

Mother Nature certainly isn't helping the dramatic downturn at the August box office, where revenue for the weekend could hit its lowest level in more than 15 years, in addition to being down nearly 50 percent from the same frame last year. Hurricane Harvey has prompted theater closures in Corpus Christi and other locales along the Texas Gulf Coast. Inland, numerous cinemas have also shuttered in Houston. Even without the storm, none of the weekend's new offerings were expected to earn more than $5 million, and that's proving to be the case. Animated family film Leap!, from Harvey Weinstein's shop,...
