  • Dear Democrats: I Won't Let You Exhaust Me With Your Diaper-Filling Tantrums

It's pretty safe to say that the Democratic Party's response to all things Trump since 2016 has made the party irredeemable. Conservatives of a certain age ("Present") have long talked about the kinds of Democrats we used to know. There was a wistfulness there, because we were hoping that we might one day get back to righteous sparring with the Democrats we know over policy and philosophy, and then adjourn for some adult beverages together where we discussed anything but politics. I've written about this a lot over the years, but it bears repeating for the purposes of this column....
  • Republicans Have to Learn How to Stop Being Pansies When They Have the Majority

Anyone who has voted Republican in more than one election quickly becomes familiar with feeling exasperated. GOP politicians have a history of not handling success well. I can't be precise about how long this has been the case, but this past spring marked my 40th anniversary as a Republican/conservative activist and it's been that way in all that time. Every once in a while a Republican politician will act like he or she won an election — Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, and President-elect Donald Trump come immediately to mind — but it doesn't happen often enough. It is both mind-blowing...

We have been having a rollicking good time since the night of Nov. 5, haven't we? It started to take on the feeling of a party that wasn't going to end for a very long time. Things have been going so swimmingly that I almost forgot that the Democrats still have control of the Executive Branch. Last week we discussed the fact that Joe Biden seemed to have been playing the fly in the ointment for Kamala Harris throughout her post-coup campaign. Despite the fact that Biden and Donald Trump seemed to enjoy their visit together last week, it's important...

Joe Biden did not exit the 2024 presidential race of his own volition. Anybody paying attention knows that his wife certainly didn't want him to stop running for a second term. Her ambition was most likely what drove him to run in the last election and she was still his most vocal cheerleader when the rest of the Dems were jumping ship after his disastrous debate against Donald Trump. The question on a lot of people's minds since then is whether Old Joe himself has been upset that he was tweeted into political irrelevance. ... Biden has done a few...

(Programming note: My colleagues and I will be liveblogging the debate. We always have a lot of fun with these things and would love to have you join us! Check the Page a few minutes before go-time for the link.) Jump in a time machine with me my friends as I write a review of the 2024 vice presidential debate 24 1/2 hours before it even begins. There is a very real possibility that this is going on a lot in American media tonight, I'm just the only one who is being honest about it. The Democrats' flying monkeys in...
  • Republicans on Judiciary Committee Playing Hardball Over Replacing an Absent Dianne Feinstein

The continued — an increasingly curious — absence of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) from her duties in the upper chamber of Congress is becoming a growing thorn in the sides of the Democrats. Feinstein is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and her prolonged recovery from shingles has ground to a halt the Democrats’ ability to further pollute the judicial system with activist judges who have been nominated by Joe Biden’s puppeteers. Over the weekend, Matt wrote a VIP column about Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) asserting that the Republicans on the committee not let Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer...

It’s always good to start the week off with a little zing, and what better way to do that than by writing a column that contains some heartfelt and valid criticism of former President Donald Trump? At least my hate mail will be buzzing for a few days. As I am going to have to do every time I write one of these things in the coming months, I will remind everyone that people are allowed to be supportive of Trump AND critique him from time to time. This is a political movement, not a cult.
  • Sorry, Kids, Mark Kelly Really Isn't All That Vulnerable in Arizona

There is a lot of speculation about the Republican party’s chances of taking the momentum they have going into November and doing what was once thought unthinkable for this election cycle: flipping the Senate to red. The analyses I read — and I do read a lot of them — that break down how that just might happen all count Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) among the most vulnerable. My view from here in my native Arizona is that Kelly probably isn’t sweating too much. Last month, my friend and colleague Stephen Green gave his breakdown regarding the GOP’s Senate takeover...

The two things I enjoy reading the most are report cards for either of my boys with straight-As, or a Democrat-friendly puff-piece in a major publication gone horribly wrong.Since report cards aren’t due for another three weeks, I guess we’ll just have to make do today with Sarah Baxter’s clueless revelation that Joe Biden isn’t up to the job of being president — and that he’s basically turned the job over to an appointee who didn’t even need Senate consent.Hell, Baxter’s Times (of London) article even puts “President Klain” right up top in the headline.“President… WHO?” I hear you ask.Before...

There have been cyber volumes written about cancel culture, especially in the last couple of years. I’ve opined on the subject a few times myself. As someone whose past is a veritable minefield of cancel-worthy (in the minds of leftists) offenses, I feel an obligation rage against this dangerous, dystopian plague that is upon America. An integral part of cancel culture is forcing its victims to abase themselves publicly and apologize. I’m not suggesting that all apologies are abasements, just the ones done for the cancel mob. The forced march in the cancel culture mea culpa parade rarely results in...

... several in the newsroom here took bets on which one is pregnant. We were all wrong, except for Stephen Kruiser. The pregnant one is in the pink. "Fifty bucks says that pic was taken before she was pregnant," Kruiser said.
