She’s only served in the role since January 2022, but Massachusetts US Attorney Rachael Rollins is stepping down in light of a probe by the Department of Justice and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel into ethical issues and her appearance at a political fundraiser. Prior to becoming U.S. Attorney, Rollins served as the District Attorney for Suffolk County (which includes Boston) for three years. Rollins indicated, through her attorney, that she intends to submit a letter of resignation to President Joe Biden by the close of business on Friday.

The principal of a Colorado high school where three students reenacted the killing of George Floyd has resigned, officials said. Rachael Ayers stepped down Monday from Mead High School in Longmont, where three students, including one in blackface, acted out the police-custody murder of Floyd – with one student kneeling on another’s neck, the Daily Camera reported. St. Vrain Valley School District Superintendent Don Haddad announced Ayers’ resignation after 12 years at the school in a letter to families, writing that the school had experienced “significant challenges” in recent months.

JERUSALEM — Nine years after their daughter was crushed by an Israeli military bulldozer in the Gaza Strip, the parents of American activist Rachel Corrie lost their legal bid Tuesday to hold Israel responsible for her death and force authorities to reopen the investigation. A Haifa judge rejected the parent's negligence lawsuit, calling Corrie's death an accident that she brought upon herself by refusing to leave what had been declared a closed military zone. "It was a very regrettable accident and not a deliberate act," said Judge Oded Gershon.

Iranian Press TV reports that a conference is to be held in Tehran today, March 14, to mark the anniversary of the 2003 death of American activist Rachel Corrie. The conference is titled "Which rights, which human, which American?" The report quotes Mehdi Foroutan, the director of the Enqelab Eslami (Islamic Revolution) Cultural Center, as saying that the conference will include representatives from 30 NGOs who are gathering "to condemn the inhumane killing of the American peace activist at the hands of the Israeli regime."
