"Another presidential candidate had an energy proposal back in 2008 as well. Former Senator Rick Santorum’s ideas, however, went an entirely different direction. Rather than increasing production, his solution was to “reduce US oil appetite” in an article he wrote, titled, “Reducing U.S. oil appetite This is one cause that could be helped by smart mandates and taxing“

Mitt Romney said at the debate last week Thursday that the Texas in-state tuition rates made available for children of illegals who want a higher education, encourages illegal immigration. Chris Christie said Tuesday Evening at the Reagan Library that he supports giving an education for children of illegals but in the samesentence he took a swipe at Texas Governor Rick Perry for proving education for children of illegals at reduced rates. The website of the University of Texas states clearly that to “be classified as a Texas residents and entitled to pay resident tuition,” meaning, the same rate that any...

Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor, has begun a string of public appearances starting in the first primary voting state of New Hampshire leading to speculation he may run again for president in 2012. Mr Giuliani, who acknowledged the flaws of his 2008 campaign, said he was not convinced that any of the declared Republican contenders could defeat Barack Obama. "These are a lot of qualified people," he said. "Do they have a good chance of winning? I don't know the answer to that." Mr Giuliani backed away from an aide's recent comment that he would decide "very soon"...

AZ Central:Crowds gather at Arizona CapitolSmall crowds gather to protest immigration law.Protesters gathered in Phoenix and Tucson Saturday for May Day rallies as anger over Arizona’s strict immigration law continues to fester.Latino activists, students, laborers and mothers with children in strollers met on the state Capitol lawn under the eye of Arizona authorities standing watch and videotaping the event from the roof of the state Senate building. The event was peaceful as speakers talked over a megaphone to denounce the state law that requires local law enforcement to question people about their immigration status if there’s reason to suspect they’re...

Despite a coordinated hype campaign between left-wing pro-illegal immigration activists and the mainstream media, turnout was a bust at May Day marches in two bellwether American cities where crowds were much lower than expected. In Los Angeles, the turnout was a mere tenth of the half-million that marched there four years ago.In a preview article published yestereday, Reuters said of the pending Los Angeles march:Marches across the state on Saturday will show whether Latinos are energized. The standard will be the rallies in March 2006, when some 500,000 people took over downtown Los Angeles to oppose a tough federal bill...

Rudy Giuliani discusses attacks on Christianity by both Newsweek and President Obama. Could anyone imagine if Newsweek had condemned Islam? Oh, right... that would never happen.

Secular America looks at the rise of Mike Huckabee and fears the growing influence of evangelical Christians in the political process. This evangelical Christian columnist fears it too, for exactly the opposite reason. Huckabee’s win in the Iowa caucuses, and his sudden viability as a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, owes to one thing and one thing only. Large numbers of evangelical voters are looking for someone to represent their values, and Huckabee is the only candidate who seems to do so.

A funny thing happened to a pro-illegal immigrant activist this week in Dallas, Texas. The activist, a League of United Latin American Citizens representative named Jesse Diaz, was carjacked. Obviously there’s nothing funny about someone sticking a gun in another person’s face and stealing his car. This isn’t funny as in hardy-har-har. And everyone is relieved that Mr. Diaz wasn’t hurt by the punk who threatened his life and stole his vehicle in broad daylight. Joe Pettimato holds a sign supporting Hazelton Mayor Lou Barletta as he attends a rally in support of immigrant issues in Scranton, Pennsylvania, March 12,...

Schneider: Giuliani's got the 'Big Mo' POSTED: 9:33 a.m. EST, February 15, 2007 Story Highlights• In latest USA Today/Gallup poll, Rudolph Giuliani enjoys a double-digit lead • Conservatives like the former New York mayor's leadership style • Sen. McCain is increasingly tied to the unpopular war in Iraq • Giuliani and Sen. Clinton virtually tied in USA Today/Gallup poll By Bill Schneider CNN Senior Political Analyst Adjust font size: WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Some candidates seem to be getting what the first President Bush once called "the Big Mo'' in the 2008 presidential race: momentum. Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani...

Giuliani’s Electoral Downside The social issues aren’t just a primary problem. By Ramesh Ponnuru Rudy Giuliani doesn’t seem to have any tepid supporters on the Right. His fans are dogged in explaining his virtues to their skeptical peers. Steven Malanga recently wrote an essay for the City Journal’s website making the case for Giuliani as a conservative exemplar. He runs through an impressive list of the mayor’s conservative accomplishments. He adds this closing thought: “And if social and religious conservatives fret about Giuliani’s more liberal social views, nevertheless, in the general election such views might make this experience-tested conservative even...

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani has held a New Year's Eve bash in his Times Square offices for years, but this year he had some special guests: a bevy of New Hampshire political activists. The contingent from the Granite State - home to the first-in-the-nation presidential primary - snacked on sushi and watched the ball drop from inside the cozy confines of Giuliani's 22nd-floor offices. He kept the chit-chat personal, but those in attendance said they left with the unmistakable sense that Giuliani is putting together a real campaign staff in New Hampshire and elsewhere as he mulls a 2008 presidential...

April 19, 2006 -- BLUE BELL, Pa. - Rudy Giuliani took a few swipes at Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday while campaigning for a Republican senator. In a speech on behalf of Sen. Rick Santorum, Giuliani recalled that for most of his mayoralty, there was one Republican and one Democratic senator representing New York. MO< "[For] one year, I had Hillary," he mock-complained, drawing laughter. After a pause, he continued: "There's that book that just came out . . . [it] points out that one thing that Hillary and I do have in common: We're both Yankee fans. I became...

Rudy Giuliani better hope that a new documentary on his mayoralty, "Giuliani Time," never makes it to cineplexes in Iowa, New Hampshire and other presidential battlegrounds. The two-hour film, which debuts May 12, casts Giuliani not as the hero of 9/11 - the role that won him acclaim as America's Mayor - but rather as the iron-fisted ruler of a city where children went hungry, the poor were forgotten and many city cops were racists. In short, "Giuliani Time" seeks to do for Giuliani what Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" did for President Bush - namely, shine an unsparing light on...

After four years of enjoying private life, former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani is taking several steps that could lay the groundwork for a presidential bid, strengthening alliances with Republicans nationwide and especially with conservative leaders of the party. Mr. Giuliani's advisers say he will decide around the end of the year whether to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2008. It is a decision that will not be made easily: Mr. Giuliani believes that his support for abortion rights, gay rights and gun control would make winning the nomination difficult, according to several friends and former City Hall aides....

SCHOOL CREDIT FOR PRO-ILLEGAL KIDS?! By Michelle Malkin · April 08, 2006 04:59 PM Monday is national illegal alien day. (List of events here.) Some schools are suspending students who walk out, but not here in the People's Republic of Montgomery County, Md. They're going to earn school credit for skipping school and protesting enforcement of our immigration laws (via WaPo): The Montgomery County schools' decision to grant students community service credit for attending Monday's immigration rights protest is raising concern among some parents as well as activists who say officials should focus on education, not political advocacy. Montgomery is...

This morning's Washington Times reports the astonishing--to me, anyway--news that last week's massive pro-illegal immigrant demonstration in Los Angeles was organized by International A.N.S.W.E.R. We've written about International A.N.S.W.E.R. a number of times; for example, here. It is a Communist organization and a front for the Workers World Party. The Workers World Party has been around for quite a while. It is one of the last unapologetically Stalinist organizations in the world; it supported the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956. More recently, the WWP and ANSWER have supported dictators like Saddam Hussein and North Korea's Kim Il Jong. These...
