Christie and Romney are Clueless or Perhaps… Lying!

Mitt Romney said at the debate last week Thursday that the Texas in-state tuition rates made available for children of illegals who want a higher education, encourages illegal immigration. Chris Christie said Tuesday Evening at the Reagan Library that he supports giving an education for children of illegals but in the samesentence he took a swipe at Texas Governor Rick Perry for proving education for children of illegals at reduced rates.

The website of the University of Texas states clearly that to “be classified as a Texas residents and entitled to pay resident tuition,” meaning, the same rate that any poor Texan may be eligible, a student must have 1) a Diploma from a Texas private or public High School; 2) must prove that he/she lived in the state for the twelve months prior to starting the College Semester or have lived in Texas for 36 months leading up to the High School graduation, and 3) non-U.S. citizens must be in the process of retaining a legal residence status in accordance with Federal Law.

So… How can Romney tell us with a somber face that this program encourages people to come illegally into the USA? Does he really think a criminal or any normal person from Mexico or from wherever takes this program into consideration before deciding to come to this country illegally? Does Romney know that these students were maybe one percent of all enrollees in Texas’ publicly-backed Higher Education system in 2010? If Christie is against such a plan, how else would he educate children of illegals immigrants? Would Christie ask those kids who want an education instead of a gang to pay full price when they are largely from low income homes?

One can only conclude that Romney (for whom I would vote), Christie (whose trash talk I like) and many Republicans (my fellow partymen) are just clueless about this program, or perhaps they are lying to the Conservative wing of the Republican Party for a political gain.

The facts don’t matter to the partisans here. I don’t support the legislation, but it isn’t what it has been portrayed to be. Perry has taken some important steps on dealing with illegal immigration and has had anti-illegal legislation blocked by the legislature. Ironically, Christie and Romney almost certainly have been supporters of the R & D establishments’ “path to citizenship” amnesty program. I know Newt has been.

Niether man has done anything to stop illegal immigrants from attending college, OR doing so at in-state tuition rates. Neither has lobbied the legislatures in their respective home states to pass a law banning illegals from getting in-state tuition, and requiring colleges to check for legal status.

In New Jersey, under Christie as Governor, at least one public college has voted to allow illegal immigrants to attend college openly, at in-state tuition rates. And other colleges are allowing it under-the-table by not checking for illegal status.

...ergo, you taxpayers who oppose in-state tuition rates for the individuals in question, are clueless liars who want children to become criminal gang-bangers!

I know I'll upset some folks here but the odds of any politician who wins an election in the solid blue areas being an actual conservative are slim to none.

Christie did some good things but it doesn't make him a conservative saint!

They can get a nearly FREE education back home in Mexico.

For you folks who think I'm heartless I've proposed that Texas give all the Mexican illegal alien highschool graduates, or even GED holders a SCHOLARSHIP back in Mexico.

And while you have your panties in a wad over this. Our troops are being surrounded in Afganistan. Man allthe billions of aid to the Pakistanies, and now they are firing at our Troops. and then ofcourse there is Iran on the other side. Our troops are land locked surrounded and you are worried about students getting in-state tuition. Not to mention the latest 700 million “loan” going to yet another “green energy fraud”. You people should start setting some priorities.

Well that is probably a reality in the not to distant future, that is if we have a President that will protect our troops. THAT is NOT OBAMA.

“Winning the Future” does the war in Afghanistan have to do with in-state tuition?

You Perry fangirls are really starting to lose it.

Unlike Texans, the rest of us aren't planning to vote for some incoherent dunce just because he acts like a cowboy and his supporters dishonestly claim he's a conservative.

Perry Haters HATE Facts?

So are you telling me his “.....you don’t have a heart” statement is FALSE? I do not hate this man; I like him as a matter of fact. But his compassionate acceptance of the illegal ‘condition’ is complete crap in my book. They are illegal, knowing or not. They aren’t needed, we don’t want them and we want them out of our country. There are more of ‘us’ on this side of the argument than people trying to rehabilitate Perry right now. He is done, over ..kaput.

BTW, hallmarking faults of Romney doesn’t help your case, neither does Christie. One isn’t running and the other is much much worse than Perry....I’ll vote for none of the above.

Really why are all those “other” states giving them in-state tuition. By the way you do know that they pay EXACTLY the same as any Texan.

Perry will be the next President of the United States.
That is a fact. No I didn’t say his statement was false.
I would have said “ People need to face reality. Having an uneducated underclass is a national security risk. and a drain on our economy”
But that’s just me.
when you start going after the EMPLOYERS that hire them then I might take you serious. Where are all of “us” protesting known illegal alien hiring businesses. Oh that’s right. You want Perry to take care of that too.

Your right your not like Texans.
Texans LOVE Freedom.
We LOVE our State.
since you apparently have know idea what you are talking about re Texas, then I suggest you worry about YOUR State and Texans will enjoy our Freedom.

BTW is YOUR State engaged in a War with the EPA like Perry has been fighting for years. didn’t think so.

You said: “Perry Haters HATE Facts”....

That implies our (the majority) nonacceptance of his FACTUAL comment was false.

As far as ‘other’ states and whether they give in-state tuition or not, it is a red herring you’re using to excuse his unacceptable suitability for President of a Sovereign United States, period.

MY state does not openly allow illegals, in-state tuition or not (we had a US wide case re: Kennesaw University and the MAJORITY was against this illegal).

You dilute your whole support of a seemingly, I said ‘seemingly’ conservative kabuki theater, with your excuses for this and that having to do with the incrementalism of illegal aliens.

I don’t expect this guy to work miracles, but I sure as HELL don’t expect him to foist his “heart-crap” on the rest of this country (against illegals) either. Get another argument - you won’t win, and your boy won’t win either.

Yes, they are lying. Amazing that they really think we’re dumb enough to buy their lies.

Now what the H are you talking about.
Perry’s “heartless” comment
Or
the fact that Romney and Christie look the other way as in-state tuition is granted.

Or
maybe you think having an uneducated underclass is good for america. If you want the border sealed you better vote for Perry ..HE is the ONLY one that is SERIOUS about stopping illegal immigration. And he walks the Walk, not spew soundbites.

BTW, has anyone asked Cain if any of the restraunts under his supervision hired illegals. I’ll bet Romenys team is working on that right now. And Obamas goon squad already know.
