Schneider: Giuliani's got the 'Big Mo' POSTED: 9:33 a.m. EST, February 15, 2007 Story Highlights In latest USA Today/Gallup poll, Rudolph Giuliani enjoys a double-digit lead Conservatives like the former New York mayor's leadership style
Sen. McCain is increasingly tied to the unpopular war in Iraq Giuliani and Sen. Clinton virtually tied in USA Today/Gallup poll By Bill Schneider CNN Senior Political Analyst Adjust font size: WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Some candidates seem to be getting what the first President Bush once called "the Big Mo'' in the 2008 presidential race: momentum.
Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani told CNN's Larry King Wednesday that "yeah, I'm running" for president.
But he's not just getting in. He's also taking off.
Last month, the USA Today/Gallup poll had Giuliani and Sen. John McCain running neck-and-neck among Republicans nationwide -- 31 percent for Giuliani compared to 27 percent for McCain.
Now Giuliani has moved to a sizeable lead over Arizonan McCain in the USA Today/Gallup poll -- 40 percent for Giuliani to 24 percent for McCain.
The latest USA Today/Gallup poll was conducted February 9-11. The polls' margin of error was plus-or-minus 5 percentage points.
What's driving it?
Giuliani is 9/11. That's what gave him the image of strong, decisive leadership. The same image President Bush used to have.
"I think they will vote for a candidate based on leadership," Giuliani told Larry King. "We need a candidate who can handle this country in a time of war."
And a majority of Americans believe Giuliani could be that candidate. According to the latest USA Today/Gallup poll, 65 percent of all Americans say Giuliani would make a good president, and, among them, 9/11 is the main reason they feel that way.

This is very bad news for Rudy. This guy is always wrong.
Bill Schneider makes Dick Morris sound like Nostradamus.
You need the "Big Mo" 60 days before the election not now.
Only 21 months to go!!!!
Yup, it's too early for anyone to have the "big Mo", just ask President Dean.
Big Mo to the left. No thanks.
and 23 months until the next inaguaration!
Bears repeating.
Now that the primaries are becoming front loaded, it might only be 12 or 13 at most months to go.
Tell that to GWB who reeled in all the money long before the votes in Iowa and NH were cast and basically put the race away before it even began.
We all turned on our TV's to search for someone to help us feel secure in the midst of chaos. Rudy was there for most of the day, Bush took over later. Just a fact, jack.
I can't believe they seriously expect us to care about these people's "mo" for the next 21 months.
If they would cover some policy issues on the other hand, that might be interesting.
Social security and medicare reform - and the fact that these two programs are fiscally unsustainable beyond about 10 years - for example, seems like something that a candidate who may be leaving office 10 years from last month would be willing to address and lead on.
"Mo" and "Dean" in the same sentence reminds me of Mo Dean. Whatever happened to her?
It's been so long since I posted, this is an old screen name from the first Clinton Admin. I just had to post because this guy Bill Schneider gets on my nerves so much. He looks like he hates dogs because they make fun of him. I'm forty years old and I still feel like egging his house.

I have a friend who saw Bill Schnieder in DC and Schnieder wearing a cape. LOL.
