DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Automaker Stellantis is recalling more than 211,000 SUVs and pickup trucks due to a software issue with the braking systems. The recall affects 2022 models of the Dodge Durango and Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. The Ram 2500 is the model with by far the most vehicles impacted. Nearly 158,000 of the 2500 pickups will be recalled, while just over 500 Ram 3500s are affected. Around 53,000 Durangos will be recalled. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, many of these vehicles have a problem with the anti-lock braking control module, which could potentially...

Better known as a world-famous luxury SUV icon, the Cadillac Escalade nameplate was also briefly attached to another body style between 2002 and 2006. Dubbed the Cadillac Escalade EXT, the “sport utility truck” combined the four-door luxury and street panache of the Escalade SUV with a composite pickup truck bed and expanded utility, making for quite a unique offering. Now, we’re rendering this modern Cadillac Escalade pickup that could make for a killer successor to the Escalade EXT. Granted, this isn’t the first time we’ve rendered a Cadillac Escalade pickup model based on the latest fifth-generation SUV. In fact, we...

Once upon a time, the manual transmission was the default transmission choice for a pickup truck. The automatic was a luxury option that robbed trucks of both power and mpg. But the final full-size pickup truck with the manual transmission (the 2018 Cummins-powered Ram) has come and gone. So who is to blame for the death of the manual transmission pickup truck? The truth is that increased engine torque, government regulations, and the capabilities of the average driver are all partially responsible. But at the end of the day, we killed the manual truck; automakers don’t offer manual transmission full-size...

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), the chairwoman of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee and a close ally of Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), announced Thursday she is not running for reelection in 2024. The announcement is a blow to Democrats’ hopes of keeping their Senate majority in 2025 as they face a tough Senate map this cycle. “Inspired by a new generation of leaders, I have decided to pass the torch in the U.S. Senate. I am announcing today that I will not seek re-election and will leave the U.S. Senate at the end of my term on January...

Someone converted a vintage commercial truck into a one-of-a-kind pickup. Sometimes when a commercial truck gets retired from service, someone comes around and converts it into a pickup. The result is often garish, with feet of ground clearance and a bed that doesn’t fit the cab’s design. For a time, this niche was just popular enough that even commercial truck manufacturers joined in on the madness. But despite its handsome looks, this 1952 Ford F-7 Big Job never left the factory looking as good as it does now. Converting a commercial truck into a pickup is a creative way to...

BEDFORD, Ind. (AP) — General Motors is planning a $51 million upgrade at its aluminum die casting foundry in southern Indiana to support manufacturing of the upcoming electric Chevrolet Silverado pickup. GM said it will install state-of-the-art equipment at its sprawling Bedford plant, which this year began producing electric drive unit castings for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, The Herald-Times reported. Production of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup will begin this month at GM’s Factory ZERO assembly plant, located in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. “This investment is another example of the company...

You see, it was all part of an extracurricular Skills USA competition and with over 100 hours worth of work invested in the piece, she was a frontrunner for first place. Hayden was knocked for her use of the Chevrolet logo on the truck's grille, which is apparently a no-no. This caused judges to deduct 50 points from her overall score, putting her in second place.

Conservative activist Scott Presler mobilized 200 volunteers to remove 50 tons of trash from a homeless camp in Los Angeles, California on Saturday. Presler’s volunteers removed more than five tons of waste per hour over a nine-hour span – and did so without any assistance from the government. On Saturday morning, Presler posted Twitter videos of the ground of the homeless camp covered in waste, before cleanup efforts began around 9a.m., which he followed with videos showing his group’s progress – and the end result. It’s almost 9 a.m. & we’re removing waste from a homeless camp in Los Angeles....

MAGA fan Scott Presler was tired of all the constant bickering in the media about Baltimore's numerous problems, so he personally decided to do something about it. Rather than simply complain or join the online chorus, he has organized a massive trash clean up of the city set to take place in the near future. Presler just wants to help out in any way that he can. "I’m so tired of people saying, ‘We should do this, we should do that'....I was just like, ‘I’ve had, it. I’m going to go to Baltimore, even if it’s just me on a street...

Forget "rolling coal." A new trend called "ICE-ing," in which pickup truck owners purposefully block electric vehicle charging stations, appears to be gaining ground around the country. The practice, whose name is derived from "internal combustion engine," was observed over the holidays at a Sheetz gas station in Hickory, N.C. Reddit user Leicina shared a photo on Dec. 23, 2018, of three large pickups blocking access to Tesla Inc. charging stations. The drivers apparently chanted "----Tesla." "I've never had a supercharging experience like this one," wrote Leicina, who owns a Tesla Model 3. "These trucks blocked all the chargers, chanted...

The news is so frustrating and crappy and the people we hope to stand up for us seem to be dwindling in number. So, I am putting this video up to offer a little lift as I do for myself now and then. I've this link hand for a long time as you may notice, but it always gives the lift it was intended for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0rQzUVQjd8

Ford’s next pickup may be a car. The automaker, which plans to eliminate all of its four-door car models in the U.S. in favor of a mostly SUV and truck lineup, will introduce Focus-based compact pickup in 2020, Automobile reports.

Ford has officially announced the 2019 Ford Ranger, the long-awaited return of this midsize truck. From 1983 to 2011, the Ranger was one of the most popular pickups on the road. It disappeared as the car companies moved more and more toward oversized trucks, leaving a big fan base pining for the return of the Ranger ever since. The success of the Chevy Colorado has been a barometer for the mid-size truck market, and sales are up 83 percent since 2014. Now Ford is banking on the new Ranger as a Chevy rival and a solid alternative to its best-selling...

The world's biggest carmaker, Toyota, has agreed to settle a US Federal class action for up to $3.4bn (£2.7bn). The Japanese carmaker Toyota admitted no liability or wrongdoing in the proposed settlement. [...] Under the terms of the agreement, Toyota will inspect the vehicles for 12 years from the day they were first sold or leased in order to ascertain if frames need to be replaced at company expense. They will also reimburse owners who previously paid for...

The pickup is about to get a rethink from Germany. In a rather surprising announcement, Mercedes-Benz says that it's planning to have a midsize truck on the market before the end of the decade. Before you get too excited to drive a pickup with the brand's famous star on the grille, there's some disappointing news. Mercedes is quite clear that the US isn't among the intended markets for the midsize truck, and the company specifically outlines the model for Latin America, South Africa, Australia and Europe. Also, this is a product being developed by the more commercially-minded Mercedes-Benz Vans division...
