Despite everything John McCain and Barack Obama can do, Sarah Palin continues to be the liveliest of the candidates, now starting the clubhouse turn and about to race down the homestretch. There's only one more presidential debate to endure. By this time in a campaign, both presidential candidates are so programmed, their talking points so tested and trite if not necessarily true, that viewers long for a refreshing gaffe. But all we get is a Tuesday-night debate where both men seem terrified of saying something interesting and new. Tom Brokaw tried. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is something else....

Speaking with Fox News’ Carl Cameron, the VP candidate says some of Obama’s comments “in my world disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander in chief.” Claims Obama has said that U.S. troops in Afghanistan are “just air-raiding villages and killing civilians.” Adds: “That’s reckless.” Also says she is “annoyed” toward the media for being “clobbered” no matter what she says. Plus: Cameron says Palin apologized for misstating the name of Gen. McKiernan, but stands by her claim that U.S. forces in Iraq are at pre-surge levels.

Okay, folks. Let's keep an eye on this debate and see if Sarah can beat down hairplug.

WASILLA, Alaska -- The valley where Sarah Palin was raised is vast and tree-packed, and so quiet that once, when Palin's parents left a door open in their antler-festooned house, a moose poked its nose into their den. You can't blame the moose for being curious. The wood-plank loft home of Chuck and Sally Heath is known for its odd, bristling lawn art. A towering sculpture of bleached antlers sits by the driveway. Bright buoys and fishing lures dangle from silver birch trees. But this riot of objects is merely a warm-up for the interior: Fox pelts. Orca teeth. Bear...

John McCain surprised many people when he chose Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska to be his vice president. She was not well-known by most people, but since her nomination and acceptance at the Republican Convention, it seems people either love her or hate her. These sentiments are strongly influenced by one's political standing. There are objective questions about her experience and credentials to be vice president and possibly president. At the same time, she is unfairly maligned and disliked by many for her small-town heritage, her anti-abortion position and for her religious spirit. A major reason why many Barack Obama...

Sarah Palin: Meet the Parents

Liberal Democrats are stumbling over themselves to claim that Republican Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is unqualified to be vice president and they cite, humorously enough, her lack of experience. Can Democrats really be so blind? Are some liberals so full of hate for everything that does not conform to their skewed worldview in which all citizens are wards of the state that they can't even see the irony of their own words? Are they really accusing Palin of being too inexperienced to be vice president while at the same time claiming U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, who has less experience than...

When John McCain selected Governor Sarah Palin, as his running mate, the Democrats and their far-left constituency let out a primal scream that could be heard from sea to shining sea. How dare he choose someone that they and their pals in the media had not had a chance to vet (i.e. libel, slander, and otherwise and otherwise eviscerate). Ah, but it was not too late. These seekers of “a new kind of politics” poured torrents of malicious abuse upon her and her family. Plane loads of scandal mongers, lawyers and other truth seekers became more numerous in Alaska than...

The lipstick brand PitBull Mom created Republican Red and Pale'n Pink in honor of Sarah Palin. Um, too far? Or is Pale'n Pink one of the most ingenious things you've heard all day?

Palin vs. Obama The race unfortunately has been framed the last two weeks by Democrats as one of Obama versus Palin. That will stop as Obama realizes he loses should it continue. Nevertheless, the comparison of the respective experiences of a McCain and Obama is so much in favor of the former, that it requires no discussion. So I turn to Palin, given the charges that she is unfit and clueless. Is Palin Tough? I have been asked by many why I have such confidence in a rookie Alaskan governor, given the rigors of the campaign to follow. (Many Republican...

According the the London Daily Mail, it's Republican Gov. of Alaska and Senator John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin. Not since Princess Diana's death can I recall ever walking into a newsagent and seeing just one woman's face staring out from every cover. ... Moreover, while Obama appears to have been on a lifelong search for his identity, Palin has never wondered who she was or where she was from. Whether you share her values or not, the moral certainties of this evangelical smalltown conservative are core to her appeal. ... And while the East Coast intellectuals may sneer at...

Leadership: If anything shows how Democrats are beneath their office, it's how they snubbed the visiting leader of Colombia on his current trip. Sarah Palin, by contrast, shows respect.Based on their treatment of President Alvaro Uribe, who is here to plead for a free trade pact, it's almost as if Democrats don't want the U.S. to have allies. Uribe made a rare visit to Washington, and shamefully few Democrats agreed to meet him. Uribe didn't come asking for much — only that Congress keep its word on an agreement that will drop tariffs on American goods sold in Colombia and...

Gannett owned website. Headline and link only. Will look for another postable source. The article says the fire chief estimates the crowd today at Palin's rally at 70,000.http://news-press.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080921/NEWS0107/80921022

Well...I played hookie this morning and went to the Sarah Palin Rally this morning at the Westernaires Arena in Golden, Colorado. It was originally to be a pancake breakfast meeting, but due to the overwhelming demand the campaign ran out of tickets in the span of eight hours so the pancakes were tossed out. I had called ahead and I had tickets available at the "will call" booth at the arena. I left the house in Thornton at 5 AM and parked at the Colorado Mills Mall parking lot at 5:30. I then walked about a mile to the Arena....

As American women are drawn to the Republican vice-presidential candidate, US writer Rebecca Johnson explains her appeal When my cell phone rang on vacation, I eyed the phone number wearily. It was my employer, Vogue, calling. My four-year-old, just out of the ocean and covered in sand, was whining for a shower. My three-year-old was thirsty. My hedge-fund husband was upstairs on his BlackBerry making plans to buy Dubai. I picked up the phone. It was the publicist from the magazine calling to say that CNN wanted to interview me about Sarah Palin. My initial response was cool. "What do...

One wonders: What did Sarah Palin ever do to inspire the rage and bile that exploded on her selection by John McCain? What is there either in this woman’s record or resume to elicit such feline ferocity? What did we know of her when she was introduced? That she was a mother of five who had brought into this world a baby boy with Down syndrome, thus living her Christian beliefs. That she was a small-town conservative who had risen from mayor of Wasilla (Pop. 9,700) to be governor of a state twice the size of Texas. That she was...

POST ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN THAT'S THE TICKET: John McCain and Sarah Palin, here onstage at the Republican convention, offer the promise of sound economic, security and energy policies. THE Post today enthusiastically urges the election of Sen. John S. McCain as the 44th president of the United States. McCain's lifelong record of service to America, his battle-tested courage, unshakeable devotion to principle and clear grasp of the dangers and opportunities now facing the nation stand in dramatic contrast to the tissue-paper-thin résumé of his Democratic opponent, freshman Sen. Barack Obama. McCain has been in Washington for many years...

Moments after Sarah Palin had finished her barnstorming acceptance speech to the Republican Convention, the media spinning began: sure, she can use a teleprompter or read a speech written by a gifted speechwriter like Matthew Scully. Big deal. So could anybody. Two facts make me uniquely qualified to comment on these claims. First, I used to be a speechwriter for Margaret Thatcher. Second, as editor of National Review I hired Matt Scully to be assistant editor and introduced him to the world of conservative opinion journalism. But the truth about speechwriting is strictly bipartisan. There are cases of politicians simply...
