[Sarah Palin] America's new political royality?
E-Ramblings ^ | September 19, 2008

According the the London Daily Mail, it's Republican Gov. of Alaska and Senator John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin.

Not since Princess Diana's death can I recall ever walking into a newsagent and seeing just one woman's face staring out from every cover. ... Moreover, while Obama appears to have been on a lifelong search for his identity, Palin has never wondered who she was or where she was from.

Whether you share her values or not, the moral certainties of this evangelical smalltown conservative are core to her appeal. ... And while the East Coast intellectuals may sneer at her homespun ideology and lack of experience, these are the very credentials that are attracting an increasing number of middle Americans.

In Palin they see optimism; in Obama cynicism. In Palin they see pride in her country; in Obama an element of shame. ... it's because she is anti-politics. Alaska may be only a small state, but with an approval rating of 76 per cent, Palin is the most popular governor in the U.S. And she's done it by breaking the mould.

She has stood up for ordinary people and taken on the Washington establishment.

Her first acts in office were to place the governor's jet for sale on eBay and sack the cook. Her record in taking on her own party is every bit as forthright and pragmatic, according to those who have watched her closely in Alaska. ... [...]it has fuelled the lurking suspicion that Obama doesn't really like women, or at least not women like Palin - white working-class women without fancy degrees or the mannered eloquence that comes from a top university education.

There is a growing sense that Obama and his wife, Michelle, are secretly condescending to ordinary folk, contemptuous of their smalltown ambitions and narrow horizons.

The Sarah Palin story does speak more to the values of the "fly over" states (as the liberal democrats comtemptuously call them), than the Harvard Law School/"Community Organizer" Obama story.

Sarah Palin, like former President Bill Clinton, harks back to the old saying that anyone in America can grow up to be President. Personally, I think her story appeals to Bill Clinton more than Obama's does, and that he is secretly rooting for her.

The other key point here is that Sarah Palin talks to the American people and Barak H. Obama talks down to them.

Update: Former 2 term democrat President Bill Clinton warned the nut roots about Gov. Sarah Palin.

"She's an instinctively effective candidate and with a compelling story," ... "I think she, I get why she's done so well. It's a mistake to underestimate her. She's got good intuitive skills. They're significant,"

The best part...Bill Clinton's honesty is driving the nut roots even battier than their typical moon bat state.

Bonus Update: Ralph Peters speaks of "Palin's anti-elitist charm" in the NY Post.

The sneering elites and their mediacrat fellow travelers just don't get it: How on earth could anyone vote for someone who didn't attend an Ivy League school? And having more than 1.7 children marks any woman as a rube. (If Palin had any taste, her teenage daughter would've had a quiet abortion in a discreet facility.)

And what kind of retro-Barbie would stay happily married to her high-school sweetheart? Ugh. ... The opinion-maker elites see Sarah Palin clearly every time they look up from another sneering article in The New Yorker: She's a country-bumpkin chumpette from a hick state with low latte availability. She's not one of them and never will be. That's the real disqualifier in this race.

Now let me tell you what those postmodern bigots with their multiple vacation homes and their disappointing trust-fund kids don't see:

Sarah Palin's one of us. She actually represents the American people.

When The New York Times, CNN, the NBC basket of basket cases and all the barking blog dogs insult Palin, they're insulting us. When they smear her, they're smearing every American who actually works for a living, who doesn't expect a handout, who doesn't have a full-time accountant to parse the family taxes, who believes in the Pledge of Allegiance and who thinks a church is more than just a tedious stop on daughter Emily's 100K wedding day.

When bill clinton looks at Sarah Palin, it isn't her story that appeals to him!

Never-the-less.......come 2012, when hill starts her next campaign......the political slaying of Sarah Palin will begin in earnest......she will be treated worse than any of those bimbo eruptions they dealt with before.

I don't see how she can be treated any worse than she has been this year.
