A Los Angeles-area man pleaded guilty to felony harassment charges in federal court on Thursday for sending fake ransom notes posing as a kidnapper of "Today" show co-host Savannah Guthrie's missing elderly mother. Derrick Callella, 42, pleaded guilty to two counts of harassment by telecommunications device, marking the only criminal conviction to date stemming from the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie from her home in Tucson, Arizona, five months ago. The charges carry a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $250,000 fine. But the plea agreement with prosecutors calls for Callella, a resident of Hawthorne, California, to...

The note, received around February 6, was a major shift from the earlier message from the same IP address that had demanded millions in bitcoin for her safe return. The latter note adopted a “new, less confident tone” and included a “sputtering and labored” apology for her “inadvertent death,” sources told Air Mail in a detailed report on the investigation. The person claiming to be the kidnapper reportedly floated returning her body in exchange for payment. After the second note was received, Savannah Guthrie posted a video addressing the alleged kidnapper. "We received your message and we understand," Savannah Guthrie...

“The sheriff leading the investigation into the unsolved disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has a checkered past in law enforcement, including allegedly beating a handcuffed suspect and threatening witnesses, records allege. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, 70, was suspended eight times when he worked for the El Paso Police Department in Texas early in his career, reports Arizona Republic. The outlet obtained records from Nanos' past through a public records request, which detailed a litany of alleged violations from Nanos when he was a young police officer.”

William “Neil” McCasland has intensified scrutiny over a growing number of cases involving scientists and officials tied to sensitive U.S. defense and research programs. The total number is now at least 11 individuals after new links to the suspicious death of anti-gravity scientist Amy Eskridge emerged. McCasland, 68, vanished from his Albuquerque, New Mexico home on Feb. 27 under unusual circumstances. According to...

Savannah Guthrie’s ailing 84-year-old mom likely suffered a fatal medical episode during her kidnapping — and her greedy captors were forced to dump her body because she was no longer “of value” to them once dead, according to a cold-case expert. The kidnappers likely “underestimated” how fragile Nancy Guthrie’s health was when they carried out their sickening money grab, Brian Martin, an Indiana detective who specializes in cold cases, told NewsNation’s Brian Entin. That left them forced to scrap their ransom plan and get rid of her body when things went “sideways” with the “Today” show host’s mom, who had...

The Tucson Police Department charged him with one count of kidnapping in connection with alleged misconduct that reportedly occurred while he was on duty,' according to a police statement obtained by Fox. Following his arrest and given the serious nature of the allegations, Reynolds's employment with the Pima County Sheriff's Office was immediately terminated.”

As the search for Nancy Guthrie hit its 50th day Sunday, leaving the local sheriff desperate and humiliated, a legendary cold-case detective insisted to The Post that the case is still ripe with potential leads. “Nancy’s case is still very fresh,” said Brian Martin, the crack detective from Fort Payne, Ind., who helped catch the killer of 8-year-old April Tinsley almost 30 years after her murder. Martin said he is optimistic that law enforcement will track down the abductor of the 84-year-old mom of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, after Nancy vanished with nary a trace from her home near...

I mean, he’s probably one of the most shady congressmen out there. Still mind boggling HE was the first call Savannah Guthrie made…not to emergency services…not to the sheriff’s department…not 911…she called Mark Kelly of Arizona when her mom had disappeared. He seems more and more shady as time goes on.

“Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has 'locked down' the Nancy Guthrie investigation amid escalating tensions between his team and the FBI that have reached the boiling point, the Daily Mail can reveal. Several sources say that Nanos is now insisting that only he and two of his highest-ranking inner circle will make decisions regarding the case of the missing 84-year-old. Several PCSD sources confirmed to the Daily Mail that just three decision makers are leading the department's investigation: Sheriff Nanos, Chief Jesus Lopez and Captain Juan Carlos Navarro.”

The unknown male DNA profile on a glove found two miles from the home of Nancy Guthrie has been run through the FBI’s DNA database – and did not result in any hits, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News chief correspondent Jonathan Hunt in an interview on Tuesday. DNA recovered from Guthrie's home also did not match records in the FBI database, Nanos said. The sheriff confirmed that the DNA on the glove was different from the DNA found inside the home. The FBI confirmed the news to Fox News Digital on Tuesday. The sheriff's department later provided...

It’s believed the 84-year-old grandmother was taken, and media outlets have received bitcoin ransom demands. “This absolutely came out of the blue, and I think she’s really concerned that it was because of her job,” Froelich,...

Fox News Digital learned authorities have used a high-tech Bluetooth scanner placed on the bottom of law enforcement helicopters to detect Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker signal. The helicopters fly low, typically in grid patterns, at a slow pace to pick up signals. Fox News Digital spotted one of the low-flying helicopters near Guthrie's home on Feb. 4, just three days after her disappearance.
