Within minutes of Erica Garner's death Saturday, the administrator of her Twitter account faced backlash over a post requesting that only black journalists reach out to the family. "Out of respect to Erica please do not request comment if the journalist is not Black," tweeted the account used by Garner, who became an anti-police brutality activist after the death of her dad, Eric Garner, who died in 2014 after being placed in an illegal chokehold by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo. The tweet drew ire from some Twitter users, who called it "racist" and said it affronted Erica Garner's legacy of...

On Monday special counsel Robert Mueller made his first arrests in what started out as an investigation of alleged “collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia but which has mushroomed into a much wider probe of Team Trump. Mueller indicted former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and another campaign official, Rick Gates, on multiple charges including conspiracy to launder money, conspiracy against the United States, being an unregistered agent of a foreign principal, and false and misleading statements. All of this said, however, the entire probe and Mueller’s case against – whomever – may be tainted by the fact that...

Looking back on 2017 is like waking up after a party where you made some poor decisions, such as drinking tequila squeezed from the underpants of a person you do not really know. (At least you hope it was tequila.) The next day finds you lying naked in a Dumpster in a different state, smeared from head to toe with a mixture of Sriracha sauce and glitter. At first you remember nothing. But then, as your throbbing brain slowly reboots, memories of the night before, disturbing memories, begin creeping into your consciousness. As the full, hideous picture comes into focus,...

DUBLIN, Ireland -- "Try a Little Tenderness" is a song written by Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly and Harry M. Woods. According to Wikipedia, it was first recorded on Dec. 8, 1932, by the Ray Noble Orchestra (with vocals by Val Rosing). Probably these names are as unfamiliar to us today as the demonstration of tenderness is in our modern political culture. This song and its sentiment came rushing back to me as I witnessed a stunning act of tenderness while crossing the Irish Sea last week on a ferry bound for Dublin. While eating breakfast in the ship's lounge, I...

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has announced its latest challenge, called the Subterranean or "SubT" Challenge. The global competition asks entrants to develop systems that can help humans navigate, map and search in underground locations that are normally too perilous to visit. "One of the main limitations facing war fighters and emergency responders in subterranean environments is a lack of situational awareness; we often don't know what lies beneath us," Timothy Chung, program manager in DARPA's Tactical Technology Office (TTO), said in a statement. "The DARPA Subterranean Challenge aims to provide previously unimaginable situational awareness capabilities for...

More than 40 people were killed and over 80 others were wounded in a suicide attack on Tebyan center in Pule Sokhtia area of Kabul on Thursday morning, health officials confirmed. Muslim-on-Muslim murder is something largely ignored by propagandists, because it diminishes their “Islamophobia” narrative. Jihad terror strikes at anyone and everyone who is deemed an infidel, Islamophobe and/or apostate. The Islamic State has now claimed responsibility for the attack on the Shia cultural center; it views the Shia as apostates...

•Three days after assuming office, Obama announced that he would overturn restrictions on funding abortions overseas. •Less than a week later, he said he would restore U.S. funding to the U.N. Population Fund, which pays for abortion. •In February 2009, Obama’s newly designed Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships was announced. Its focus was not religious liberty. Instead, its goal was to decide on a case by case basis which funding requests were constitutionally acceptable, calling into question the hiring rights of religious non-profits. •In March, Obama appointed Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services. An abortion-rights zealot,...
