What a sad story about Coach Billups losing everything over something as useless as gambling. He came from a growing group of athletes like Michael Jordan and Phil Mickelson who gamble millions thinking they are not hurting anyone but themselves. Just like everything else in the societal morals cult what appears harmless soon owns you completely before it destroys you.
What he is indicted for is being the famous athlete you are allowed to play poker with in a private room. The high rollers were rolled with high tech cameras, special glasses or contacts and card shuffling machines rigged to deal hands for the dealer or Billups. They were robbing the people blind with the oldest poker tricks using high tech tools.
The more serious charge which he is only named as a conspirator is telling people they were throwing a game although who can prove that with the Trail-losers. This is a three-year investigation which it looks like Trump allowed them to finally bring the charges. By the sounds of things, the Biden DOJ would have never brought them since they were not interested in this.
As much as many people really liked the way Billups coached with all out effort, it appears he was as dirty as they get. It seemed like he would pull players at critical times in the game or the year and let them lose even when they looked like they were going to win. This may just be the very tip of the berg if this spreads across the basketball world as there are already questions of other players being involved. Will this go across all of sports since the money is so large?
It is comical listening to the sports media clutching their pearls in outrage as every other commercial is an online betting or casino commercial. They are outraged this could possibly happen as they make their predictions against the spread and brag about the trifecta they won last night while discussing their fantasy football team. Where is Humphry Bogart when you need him?
You can take the Hood out of the hood but you can’t take the hood out of the Hood. Chauncy Billups seemed like a nice fatherly figure who seemed to care about his players and very well may have by today’s standards, but he was seduced by the cult. He believed he was a good person by doing everything right according to the world. He was a good provider and a very successful athlete who won multiple championships and made the Hall of Fame, but he obviously was empty spiritually.
He measured himself by man’s measurement and not God’s. You can never measure up to man since there is no way to reach true success. Here is a man who went to the very peak of his profession who made over a $100 million and had the nickname of Big Shot Billups and still did not measure up. Satan found a gap in his armor and used it against him with an arrow to addict him to something he could not control and down the spiral he went of shame, humiliation and emptiness.
God’s measurement is just the opposite since God doesn’t need anything man has. Everything man considers valuable are just dirty rags to Him. The only thing you have is your life and giving it up to him, nothing else.
When I died and met Jesus he said, Well done my good and faithful servant. Not for anything I did but what he did for me which was dying on the cross. I gave up my life and asked for His Salvation which was complete humility and admitting you need his mercy and guidance. That is all you can give and all he wants. That is why he said, Well done and how you can hear it too.
Chauncy listened to the world and was very successful by man’s standards which led to emptiness and addiction. It is all man has to offer but extremely seductive to fall for. He fell for it and now his entire career has been destroyed by something the world tells you is fun and exciting. Pray, someone will share the gospel with him so he can be freed from this demon and begin as a free man.

I did my usual scan of this morning's guest line up and started laughing out loud when I read that.

From the looks of the tracking now most source in agreement the US will once again be spared from the deadliest of storms. Hurricane force winds of 155 mph or more are catagorized as category 5 or Cat 5 storms.
Looks like Monday Melissa is forecast to be a cat 5 at 160 and be near or on the Island of Jamacia.
The damage will be historic and of course the US will respond immediately.

To me the embodiment of all of this gambling scandal was a screen capture of ESPNs pregame show, as the panel of retired players pontificating profusely, the lower crawl is plastered with ads for ESPN.BET. It reminded me of the baseball gurus this summer when players were suspended for gambling and they also debated it, even tossing in Pete Rose , all the while there are ads plastered on the behind plate sign walls and even electronically placed ads on the mound for.....wait for it....gaming websites. Beam me up Scotty! 🙄
