An Arkansas waitress claimed her co-worker ran off with her half of $300,000 winnings from a scratch-off ticket.
Leslie Underwood, a waitress at Sportsmans Drive-In, located in Stuttgart, Ark., said her co-worker Mandy Vanhouten owes her some cash.

Since she saw a picture of Vanhouten posing with the large check, Underwood said she has not heard from her. Vanhouten has failed to appear at work this week and was not answering her phone, she added.
Haley Johnson, another waitress at the burger joint, told KARK she has been covering Vanhoutens shifts.
"Things have been a little hectic around here since that happened," Johnson said. "I would think you'd have the courtesy to at least split it like you were supposed to instead of just claiming it all for yourself, saying you needed it more than she did."

Oh No!
A verbal agreement might not amount to much. She said, she said. Tough situation, grrrrr.
The sad part is that the money could have purchased a nice little home for the family. Too bad, I hope things work out for the woman. https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/Stuttgart-AR/pmf,pf_pt/108987201_zpid/20697_rid/pricea_sort/34.557254,-91.455346,34.434451,-91.639882_rect/12_zm/2_p/
I don’t understand why people do this.
All that is certain is that one of these women is a greedy piece of trash.
But I have no idea which one.
Lottery tickets including scratch-offs are a bearer instrument.
If you’re going half/half on them you BOTH need to sign the back.
Most of Stuttgart is working class poor. In the Fall it becomes the “Duck Hunting Capital of the World” The Duck Dynasty guys are down there for duck hunting season.
off the cuff feel good promises of sharing a portion or % of a winning are really tested when one actually does win. Did they split the cost of the ticket? That’s more concrete and enforceable. If she just idly said a few months back that they’ll split it, all bets are off.
I’d say the lesson here is: If you’re in a pool, get a lawyer and it in writing.
Did she give the other lady half the money to purchase the ticket?
That just doesn't smell right.
Yeah, that quote means that the money is going to drugs. Bad all around.
Me either. I could never enjoy the money after "stealing" it from the other person.
After she’s blown through it on a boob job, cars and assorted substance abuse she’s not going to have anywhere to crawl back to.
"Hey Mandy, want to go in on scratchers with me? Here's $10. Get us $20 worth."
"Okay Leslie, can do. I hope we win!!"
Mandy gets the tickets. Mandy scratches the tickets. Mandy finds the winner, and quickly and quietly runs off with it, claims it for herself, and moves to a new town with her drug-dealer boyfriend. The $300,000 will be gone in under 3 months, guaranteed.
I would never do that. Are you dumb enough to do that?
Their boss should be able to attest that he told them to split any winnings when he gave them the tickets, that might help some.
A waitress and a co-worker.
That right there tells you the problem.
