November 22, 1963, is a date defined by I will never forget. Sent home from school alone, frightened and attached to the TV, the day unfolded before me that even by today's standards was too much, too fast and too sad to grasp the entirety of what went down. My commitment to understanding it moved from passive to active many years later when Dr. Lawrence Klein, one of my personal physicians introduced to me by by mom, told me that on Nov. 22, 1963, he was a third-year medical student at UT Southwestern, doing a rotation at Parkland Memorial Hospital,...

former Secret Service agent, Paul Landis, who was present at President John F. Kennedy's assassination, recently came forward with a revelation that challenges the 'magic bullet' theory and raises questions about the possibility of a second shooter. Landis, now 88 years old, shared his recollection with the New York Times nearly 60 years after the tragic event. He claimed that in the chaos following the shooting, he discovered a nearly pristine bullet on the back seat of the open limousine, just behind where Kennedy had been sitting when he was killed. Landis preserved the bullet for autopsy investigators by placing...

A former Secret Service agent who was present at President John F. Kennedy's assassination has come forward with a new claim that would debunk the 'magic bullet' theory and raises questions about whether there was a second shooter. Paul Landis, 88, broke his silence on Saturday, nearly 60 years after Kennedy was shot dead in a motorcade passing through Dallas, to share his bombshell recollection with the New York Times. Landis, who in 1963 was a young Secret Service agent assigned to protect First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy, said that in the chaos following the shooting, he picked up a nearly...

An SAS sniper was able to stop a group of jihadis launching a suicide bomb attack by killing the terrorists with just three bullets in a dramatic shoot-out in an ISIS-held part of Iraq. The marksman, who joined the SAS a decade ago, potentially saved the lives of hundreds of innocent people by firing three well-aimed shots at the jihadists as they left a bomb factory near Mosul. The sniper was given the go-ahead after the men were spotted leaving the bomb factory wearing heavy coats in hot weather -- a sign they were trying to hide their suicide vests....

This is a typical howto-question. Take a typical 7.62 bullet. Posit that it knows exactly where it is, and where it should be. How do you change direction, with the equipent being small enough to fit onboard with the position sensor?

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Tuesday there were a range of policy options available that could create up to a million new U.S. jobs, in remarks ahead of a major economic speech that he will deliver next week. Obama must boost growth and bring down unemployment to be confident of winning another White House term in the November 2012 general election. Economists are skeptical he will get Congress to agree to significant new spending on jobs."We don't have magic bullets, but what we do have, I think, is the capacity to do some things right now that would...

Operating from a remote patrol base in Helmand, two British snipers were responsible for killing 75 Taliban fighters in just 40 days. In one remarkable feat of marksmanship, two insurgents were dispatched with a single bullet. The arrival at the newly-established Patrol Base Shamal Storrai (Pashto for “North Star”) in late August 2009 of Serjeant Tom Potter and Rifleman Mark Osmond marked the start of an astonishing episode in the history of British Army sniping. Within 40 days, the two marksmen from 4 Rifles, part of the Welsh Guards Battle group, had achieved 75 confirmed kills with 31 attributed to...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama said on Sunday the U.S. economy was expanding but not at a robust enough pace and there was no "magic bullet" that will fix its problems. Obama said in an NBC interview that the batch of grim economic data over the past few weeks was something his administration had anticipated. ... "The economy is still growing, but it's not growing as fast as it needs to," Obama told NBC in the interview in New Orleans, where he stopped after a vacation on the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard. Obama faces a dilemma in trying...

This week is the anniversary of the tragic day in 1963 [11/22/63, 35 years ago today] when John F. Kennedy was assassinated on the streets of Dallas. Looking back, we can see that Kennedy's death marked a turning point, when the political consensus of the time gave way to the confrontational politics that we associate with the 1960s. The upheavals that followed -- along with the bitter partisanship that disfigured political life in the last third of the century, and whose echoes we still hear today -- can be traced back to that day in Dallas. The terrorist attack of...

Magic Bullets Discovered in Sadr City by AFP PhotographerWed, Aug 15, 2007 at 9:45:56 am PSThttp://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=26666_Magic_Bullets_Discovered_in_Sadr_City_by_AFP_Photographer&onlySometimes the propaganda is so obvious it’s almost funny. An elderly Iraqi woman shows two bullets which she says hit her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City. At least 175 people were slaughtered on Tuesday and more than 200 wounded when four suicide truck bombs targeted people from an ancient religious sect in northern Iraq, officials said. (AFP/Wissam al-Okaili)To make it even tastier, there’s another one from July 10, 2007, apparently featuring the same woman, holding...

A woman who was standing 10 feet away when a stray bullet from a gang fight struck 7-year-old Tajahnique Lee in the face told the police she had been too distracted by her young son to see who fired the shots. A man who was also in the courtyard when that .45-caliber round blew Tajahnique off her bicycle told detectives he had been engrossed in conversation with neighbors and ducked too quickly to notice what had happened. Indeed, at least 20 people were within sight of the gunfight among well-known members of the Sex Money Murder subset of the Bloods...

Oswald 'had no time to fire all Kennedy bullets' By Tim Shipman in Washington, Sunday Telegraph Last Updated: 12:30am BST 01/07/2007 Lee Harvey Oswald could not have acted alone in assassinating President John F Kennedy, according to a new study by Italian weapons experts of the type of rifle Oswald used in the shootings. The new findings will encourage conspiracy theorists In fresh tests of the Mannlicher-Carcano bolt-action weapon, supervised by the Italian army, it was found to be impossible for even an accomplished marksman to fire the shots quickly enough. The findings will fuel continuing theories that Oswald was...

The passing of President Gerald Ford is a reminder that the Republican Party was once led by political moderates who have now been replaced by members of the radical right (read that as "neocons") and evangelicals. Ford, who had served as House Republican leader, vice president and president, understood that politics is the art of compromise. He had many friends on the opposite side of the political aisle who heartily supported his nomination to be Richard M. Nixon's vice president when Spiro Agnew was forced to step down in 1973 amid bribery allegations. That doesn't mean Ford was not a...

Specter Confesses to not Understanding the ConstitutionBy Henry Mark HolzerFrontPageMagazine.com | August 29, 2005 A couple of weeks ago, I wrote in these pages that Senator “Chuck” Schumer broke his own record for ignorance of the judicial system following President Bush’s announcement of John Roberts’ nomination to the Supreme Court. In insisting that Roberts articulate positions on current legal issues confronting the Court, Schumer proved that he does not understand Separation of Powers, and thus the Constitution’s mandated role for a judge in the American system of government, believing instead that the judiciary is simply another political branch. I observed...

United States Sen. Arlen Specter (R., Pa.) has announced that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, in a press release from his office Wednesday afternoon. In a press release, Specter, 75, said he had experienced persistent fevers and enlarged lymph nodes under his left arm and above his left clavicle. The statement said Specter received testing on February 14 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The testing involved biopsy of a lymph node and biopsy of bone marrow. The lymph node was positive for Hodgkin's disease. The bone marrow biopsy showed no cancer. A follow up PET scan...

"If anyone could clear up the main points of contradiction between the [Warren] Report's conclusions [with regard to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy] and much of the evidenca and testimony presented before it, it would be the Commission investigator responsible for ascertaining the facts related to the actual moment of the assassination-the sequence of events, the number of shots fired, the source of the shots, the number of assassins. It would be Arlen Specter. At age 33, Arlen Spector was assigned as an attorney to the Warren Commission Investigating the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy. His title...

The Nation, a far-left magazine that still believes Alger Hiss innocent, seldom speaks well of any Republican. Yet its just-released May 3rd issue carries an article "Election Matters: The GOP Hunts Its Own" which bluntly backs Pennsylvania's Republican Senator, Arlen Specter, for reelection. Why does The Nation love Arlen so? [I]n a closely divided Senate, Specter's tendency to side with liberals on social issues, as well as his willingness to challenge the worst excesses of the right on judicial nominations, tax cuts, the minimum wage, school choice and tort reform, has made him a Republican that Democrats can deal with....

Just got called by a Pollster calling Republican households for the Pennsylvania Primary. Even though I am the only male and only registered Democrat in the household, the pollster was none the wiser. She asked if we were planning to vote for Specter or Toomey in the primary and I said Pat Toomey. She asked if that was definite or probably and, playing along, I said probably. Then she listed a bunch of issues and asked what was most important to us. I said the war on terrorism because nothing else matters if we don't win it. Finally, she asked...

<p>WASHINGTON (CNN) -- John Ashcroft came under increasing pressure Thursday to recuse himself from the CIA leak investigation, with one senior Republican senator saying the attorney general should consider doing so.</p>
<p>Asked whether White House political aide Karl Rove's history as a political advisor to Ashcroft during his gubernatorial and Senate campaigns were grounds for the attorney general to step away from the case, Sen. Arlen Specter said, "Recusal is something Ashcroft ought to consider."</p>
