NEW YORK (CNN) – President Obama spoke Wednesday at the U.N. General Assembly as he tackles a range of thorny international issues with his counterparts. Obama said Iran and North Korea “must be held accountable” if they continue to ignore international nuclear weapons treaties. Iran recently reiterated its unwillingness to give up its nuclear program, which the United States and other Western nations fear is being used to develop nuclear weapons. Iran insists its program is strictly for civilian power. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice said she didn’t expect a direct meeting between Obama and Iran’s president, Mahmoud...

Take a quick break from speculating about the outcome of the elections this November. There is a new topic that is causing quite a bit of speculation: just what did Kiran Chetry of CNN's American Morning do last Wednesday that caused co-host John Roberts to pause in the middle of introducing guest David Axelrod and snap at her in a fit of extreme irritability? Almost as funny watching it on TV was the fact that the moment was officially recorded in CNN's transcripts: DAVID AXELROD, SENIOR ADVISER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA: Thank you for having me. ROBERTS: Let me ask you...

In a shocking development, 'Fox and Friends' cutie Kiran Chetry has been canned. Apparently the William Morris Agency tried to play hardball with the Fox News Channel, and it struck out big time - with its client Chetry, getting axed from the network. William Morris super-dooper-agent John Ferriter told the network to dump the unfunny and very wooden Gretchen Carlson, co-anchor of the higher-rated weekday "Fox & Friends," so that Chetry could slide into the slot. Ferriter, who'd recently started representing Chetry, had his backstabbing request backfire on Thursday, when Fox execs fired off an irate letter to Ferriter saying...

See for example this thread first. Kiran Chetry is now gone from Fox And goes to CNN! That shocks! First Gretchen did switch Which network is which? Upon both their houses a pox!

As TVNewser first reported yesterday, Fox News sent a letter to John Ferriter, agent of weekend anchor Kiran Chetry, blasting the pair's contract demands and severing relations with his client. Fox and Chetry were in the middle of contract renegotiations. Fox News legal VP Dianne Brandi writes: You have treated Fox News with such arrogant disregard that we do not desire to do any further business with you. You refused to enter into good faith negotiations despite your client's statements that she wanted to remain at Fox News and was happy with the renumeration we had offered. You and your...

First on TVNewser: We may not see Kiran Chetry on Fox News Channel anymore. The news update and weekend anchor was in the middle of contract negotiations with the net, but they are no longer interested in matching any other offer she receives, according to a letter sent to her agent this afternoon. In the letter, legal VP Dianne Brandi says "Chetry is free to leave Fox News prior to March 6 (the natural expiration of the agreement) with no further compensation."

Let's be generous and chalk it up to the early-morning hour. Otherwise we'd have to come down hard on radio host Mike Gallagher, who as a guest on this morning's Fox & Friends Weekend went ga-ga for Barack Obama. It's one thing to acknowledge as did Mike that Obama has appeal as a candidate. But, interviewed by Keran Chetry, it was Gallagher's praise for Obama's substance that shocked, coming as it did from a putative conservative. Said Gallagher: "He's got some pretty solid ideas. He's a moderate." Moderate?? If Mike would check Obama's record, he'd find that in addition to...

by Mark Finkelstein September 3, 2006 - 09:54 It was a rollicking episode of 'The Long & The Short of It' this morning, and even taking my personal biases into account, it was hard not to score it 2-0 for the tall man. The regular Sunday-morning feature of Fox & Friends Weekend pits long, conservative Newsday and TCS columnist Jim Pinkerton against short, liberal Ellen Ratner of Talk Radio News. The opening topic this morning, in a match refereed by FNC host Kiran Chetry, was a report that retired General and former Dem presidential nomination-seeker Wesley Clark will be issuing...

by Mark Finkelstein April 29, 2006 Give Ellen Ratner credit for consistency - if not for logic. For the second week running Ratner used her 'Long & Short of It' platform on Fox & Friends Weekend to tout her solution to the immigration problem - sheer surrender in the form of 'open borders'. Here is Ratner's rant on the same subject from last week's show. Ratner: "I want to say again . . . I know it gets a lot of mail, why I am in favor of really having open borders between Canada and Mexico, because there is not...

by Mark Finkelstein on April 22, 2006 - 07:56. When Ellen Ratner went a couple weeks without any major liberal loopiness, one wondered whether perhaps Jim Pinkerton was having a salubrious effect on her. But things got back to normal this morning when Ratner let Pinkerton goad her into boasting that she supports "open immigration." The opening topic on today's 'Long & the Short of It' segment on Fox & Friends Weekend dealt with Howard Dean's recent claim that job # 1 in his view is tougher border security. Pinkerton smelled politics, describing Dean as "somebody who is reading the...

by Mark Finkelstein February 5, 2006 - 07:51 Hey, I'm a multi-culturalist. I'm happy to see people observing their various religious holidays, from Christmas to Chanukah to Ramadan. But somehow, my multicultural enthusiasms run out of steam when it comes to . . . condoning the sacking of foreign embassies. Not Julian Phillips. The co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend blithely condoned the current rioting and burning of foreign embassies around the world by Muslims angered by depictions of the Prophet Mohammed. His explanation-by-way-of-excuse: "different religion, different culture." In the course of the show's opening segment, Fox's Yasmina Ykelenstam reported...

Those of us who are, let's say, not necessarily huge fans of Julian Phillips, co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, didn't have to wait long for some fresh grist for our mill. In the first few minutes of this morning's show, we: 1. we learned that Julian wears driving gloves while driving his pride & joy, a super-customized Mercedes; 2. saw the ostentatiously religious Phillips manage to slip in a reference to his church attendance; and 3. witnessed him discuss in the same sentence the death of the West Virginia miners and that of . . . a whale. At...

This morning, I heard Kiran Chetry use that phrase, and it cracked me up (OK, it could have been Doocey, but I tend to obsessively focus on her when she's on).

When is the new female on Fox & Friends? I believe her name is Allison. Caught her Thursday morning with Captain Kirk and he said she did not need any chest protection... And she doesn't at all!

Great legs, too.
