This nanomesh then contains a ton of tiny electrical sensors that pick up on your movements and send them to an AI that then translates them. So, for the example that the researchers provide, it’s able to use the AI to determine where you might be typing on a keyboard. It’s fairly error-free, though, AI is still a long way from providing completely error-free responses. But this spray-on smart skin isn’t just tied to controlling keyboards. The researchers also say that it can be used to control apps on your smartphone, and could even be used for VR applications, too....

We have a Vizio smart tv, model D43-D2. It used to have a keyboard screen so you could surf the web. We never used it past the first couple of weeks. Now, we can't find it anywhere and neither could the internet/cable repair guy.

I just bought a new keyboard for my Windows computer. I'm delighted with it enough to write a short review of it here. And hopefully through your comments maybe we'll learn how FReepers are using keyboards. Now to begin, I should explain that I'm rather fussy about my keyboards: Consistency is Crucial -- Since I write for a living, I want to use the exact same keyboard model so my muscle memory is not surprised by a new keyboard layout. So I settled on the Microsoft Media Pro format. And when some of the key faces get worn so I...

If your rocking a Samsung smartphone, you could be vulnerable to hackers, thanks to a preinstalled keyboard on your device. The vulnerability was discovered by Ryan Welton from mobile security specialists NowSecure. The issue is with the preinstalled Swift keyboard which looks for language pack updates over an unencrypted line. Welton found that a hacker could create a spoof proxy server and send a fake update to the device with malicious code. The hacker could then exploit the device by eavesdropping on incoming and outgoing messages or voice calls, access personal data such as pictures or text messages, tamper with apps,...

We’ve rounded up 10 super-handy keyboard hacks that will help you zip through your daily grind, so you can spend more time on things that matter — or at least save your index finger from repetitive stress syndrome. And, we've organized them from the most basic...

I am interested in getting a soft touch keyboard, with keys that are raised and separate enough that I do not easily hit the wrong key, which I am very prone to do, and wondered if any FReepers have any suggestions. Under 25.00 would be preferable. The problem is that my fingers have become increasingly stiff over the years, and so they do not move independently well or fast, or precisely hit what i want, and therefore I often hit the wrong key that i want to press, usually resulting in multiple typos in every sentence, thus making typing slow....

The research team of Antti Oulasvirta at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics has created a new keyboard called KALQ that enables faster thumb-typing on touchscreen devices. They used computational optimization techniques in conjunction with a model of thumb movement to search among millions of potential layouts before identifying one that yields superior performance. A user study confirmed that, after a short amount of practice, users could type 34% faster than they could with a QWERTY layout. Typing on today's mobile phones and tablets is needlessly slow. One limitation is that the QWERTY layout is ill-suited for tablets and other...

Techy Freepers, I need to buy a wireless keyboard and mouse that can operate up to thirty feet away from the computer. It's for a big meeting room with a projector. The Microsoft stuff I have right now is useless at about ten feet away from the computer. If anyone has a suggestion I'd deeply appreciate your help!

Sorry for the Saturday morning vanity - but I know someone out there in Freeperland can help me. I have a Sony Viao laptop hooked up to a docking station to which is attached my Dell Monitor. I have a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. For some unknown reason, my monitor stays in "sleep mode" all the time! I cannot get it to be "on" and viewable! Black screen at all times. There are 4 buttons on the lower right corner of the monitor and I have tried pushing in each of these buttons and the yellow light that is...

When it comes to computer technology, thin is always in. It’s indisputable that the thinner, lighter, clearer, the better when dealing with the latest computer gadget. This keyboard is the epitome of the high standards expected of the technological version of the fashion industry. It’s based on image as well, that is, image recognition technology.

Computer criminals could soon be eavesdropping on what you type by analysing the electromagnetic signals produced by every key press. By analysing the signals produced by keystrokes, Swiss researchers have reproduced what a target typed. The security researchers have developed four attacks that work on a wide variety of computer keyboards. The results led the researchers to declare keyboards were "not safe to transmit sensitive information". Better attacks The attacks were dreamed up by doctoral students Martin Vuagnoux and Sylvain Pasini from the Security and Cryptography Laboratory at the Swiss Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL). The EPFL students tested...

A new ad from the Obama campaign ridicules John McCain for not using the Internet, perhaps not realizing that McCain’s war injuries leave him unable to use a keyboard. This ad comes on the heels of Obama’s ‘lipstick on a pig’ controversy, which is still fueling late night talk shows. The lipstick controversy came on the heels of another Obama gaffe, when he artlessly referred to “my Muslim faith.” The Obama gaffes are piling up, and we’re not even counting his VP pick, Biden, who himself is racking up an impressive number of ‘oops’ moments. Poor Obama is definitely having...

Just when it seems the Democrats can't sink any lower, they manage to surprise you.. What the Obama ad fails to mention is that the reason McCain can't a computer is probably because his arms were broken when he was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967. His injuries were exacerbated when the communists refused him medical care and then tortured him repeatedly during the five and a half years McCain spent as POW in Hanoi. According to an article in the Boston Globe in the year 2000... McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps...

In its zeal to get tough on Sen. John McCain, who has taken the lead in the presidential race, Sen. Barack Obama's campaign released a television ad today, titled "Still," making fun of Sen. McCain for being old fashioned. In the ad, the Obama campaign says that McCain hasn't changed much since he went to Congress in 1982, to make the case that McCain's campaign does not represent change. But the campaign crossed a line when it ridiculed McCain because he "can't send an e-mail," and unwittingly embroiled itself in another controversy that will throw the campaign off message. The...

Russian IT professionals have come out with an unusual device – a keyboard, suitable for girls with blonde hair, who are considered to be less smart than girls with other hair colours (by folklore). The unique keyboard has got nonstandard symbols on its buttons, aimed at making their functions easier for understanding. For instance, the “Enter” button is called “The biggest button” or “Yes” button. The “Space” button carried the proud name of “The longest button”. Functional “F” buttons are called “useless” buttons, and “Esc” is marked with “No!”. However, there exists no scientific explanation for the fact why blonde...
