This nanomesh then contains a ton of tiny electrical sensors that pick up on your movements and send them to an AI that then translates them. So, for the example that the researchers provide, it’s able to use the AI to determine where you might be typing on a keyboard. It’s fairly error-free, though, AI is still a long way from providing completely error-free responses.
But this spray-on smart skin isn’t just tied to controlling keyboards. The researchers also say that it can be used to control apps on your smartphone, and could even be used for VR applications, too. It might not let you feel things in VR, but it sure looks a lot nicer on your hands than Facebook’s VR glove.
Additionally, tech like this could open the door for tons of new advancements, not only in the field of interacting with mobile devices, but it could also make augmented reality more appealing if you can control it better. With Apple planning to beam AR images directly onto your eyes, it could help create more immersive experiences if tied with other devices.

Now that is interesting. More Science Fiction becoming reality.
I’d just be happy if the voice recognition worked well on my iPhone. Sometimes it’s such a mess that I end up having to retype the whole thing. kind of happened just now.
I like my reality to be real, not virtual.
I’m with you.
I have “visited” the ISS in my VR rig. I have also explored the Great Wall, the Eiffel Tower, experienced sunset in Madagascar, explored the Great Pyramids, strapped myself below the wing of a Blue Angel in precision flight, flew a wing-suit from drop to landing, been attached under a balloon from ground to space. I have also ridden EVERY ride in every amusement park in the USA and some elsewhere.
And those are just a FEW of the hundreds if not thousands of VR experiences I have enjoyed. If I cannot be there, it is the next best thing.
Once you experience in decent-quality VR, 2D pictures never cut it again.
i hope you didnt drink the water if you ‘went’ to mexico in vr?
Tell me when they have this for air guitar
What makes up a “good VR rig?”
Please tell us!
When you study how the human brain actually turns the info it gets from our senses into a cohesive thing that we interact with you quickly realize we all live in VR.
“I like my reality to be real, not virtual.”
We live in a virtual world. You cannot “touch matter”.
Type without a keyboard? Great, cause mine makes a lot of mistakes.

My Quest 1 was darn good, Quest 2 even better. Still a tiny bit blurry but better every generation.
The thing about the Oculus Quest series is they are wireless (but can be tethered to a PC for more GBU/CPU intensive apps like Squadrons).

LOL.
I have been married to a woman from Mexico 30 years next month. We go to Mexico 4 - 6 times a year.
About 5 years ago it occurred to me that I can probably “teach” my system to tolerate Mexican water. So I slowly went from pitchers of 3/4 bottled water-1/4 local tap water and slowly each visit changed to more tap water. I now have no problem with 100% tap water.
What I have learned is in smaller cities it is important you wash veggies REALLY well as they can get fecalized water on them. But the water supplies themselves are no problem for me now.
I love mechanical linkages, gears and springs that drive hundred year old machines and devices.
They work better, the interface is more direct and intuitive, they last forever, are beautiful - and if they ever do break, you can take them apart and fix them.
The only advantage to modern manufacturing is it’s cheaper for the manufacturer to produce, store and ship - but none of those advantages accrue to the end user.
lol yep- i always wondered why the folks there don’t get montezuma’s revenge while outsiders do- Good point about the veggies, that makes sense-
Thanks FRiend!
Do you know if the Quest 2 still requires a facebook account? (I'm not willing to do that.)

NO. They got rid of that under threat of lawsuut. You will need to set up a separate Meta non-FB acct but that makes sense as that is how they can track your store purchases and library.
