It could be the farm itself, where Rice’s son Kevin and his wife Emily reside, and where Gail Rice stayed at foaling time in a camper by the driveway. The ecosystem itself can prove downright recuperative: dogs, goats, a week-old foal hanging next to the mare, chicks scrambling around in the grass, potbellied pigs named Chester and Walter. “He’s such a cool dude,” Rice said, patting Chester. “So I’m like, ‘God told me to get my butt home, right in time,’ ” Gail Rice said, “because the feet were coming out too far up and torn through, and so, it...

Justify’s emergence as the only undefeated Triple Crown champion after Seattle Slew and the 13th horse overall to complete the rare sweep went from a feel-good story to one awash in controversy on Sunday. Queens native Mike Repole, co-owner of fourth-place Vino Rosso and last-place Noble Indy in the field of 10, hopes Belmont Park stewards will question jockey Florent Geroux about his handling of Restoring Hope, Justify’s stablemate, for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.

Long shot Restoring Hope's run in Saturday's Belmont Stakes is being questioned by some competitors, who suggest the horse might have been used to block other horses from catching stablemate Justify on his way to the Triple Crown. Bob Baffert trains both Justify and Restoring Hope, which went off at 37-1 and then broke fast to the front and settled into second place for much of the race, just off Justify's shoulder, before falling to eighth at the finish. Mike Repole, who co-owns fourth-place finisher Vino Rosso and last-place finisher Noble Indy, and Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez both...

What I say here I don't say lightly. Yesterday I attended my 53rd consecutive Belmont Stakes. I have the highest regard for trainer Bob Baffert. Though based in California, he regularly ships in horses to run in big races in NY (and elsewhere). Last year on Belmont Day he entered horses in four races and they all won. This year he entered horses in three races and won them all. This is no mean feat. But this year one of his horses did not win. (Huh?) Baffert entered two horses in the Belmont Stakes. The other horse they probably didn't...

Just won the Belmont. 13th Triple Crown winner, first undefeated winner since Seattle Slew in 1977.

Now the big question: Is Justify going to the White House?

If the strapping chestnut colt Justify wins the Belmont Stakes on Saturday to become just the 13th horse in history to claim horse racing’s Triple Crown, two of the three groups that have an ownership stake in the horse’s breeding rights will be front and center during the celebration.

There’s a secretive owner of Justify, the horse expected to win the Triple Crown: George Soros. His stake hasn’t previously been reported.

If the strapping chestnut colt Justify wins the Belmont Stakes on Saturday to become just the 13th horse in history to claim horse racing’s Triple Crown, two of the three groups that have an ownership stake in the horse’s breeding rights will be front and center during the celebration. WinStar Farm, one of North America’s leading thoroughbred racing and breeding operations, owns 60 percent of Justify’s breeding rights. China Horse Club owns 25 percent. A third group, a secretive entity that holds the remaining 15 percent, will remain out of the spotlight because it vigorously avoids any public attention. It...

Along with everyone else I was betting on Justify to win the run for the roses. And win he did, by an impressive two and a half lengths – in the mud no less! This was only his 4th race and he’s won all of them.In the stretch, with nobody breathing down his neckAlthough the truth is whether you win by a length or by a nose, it’s still a win. Just ask Donald Trump. The real reason I was hoping this Kentucky bred beauty would win is so I could speculate if he was named after the Justified TV series...

Terence Weldon, the angry homosexual activist who has blasphemed against Christ by suggesting that He had a homosexual relationship and who has accused Pope Benedict XVI of having a homosexual inclination, is at it again. This time the sophomoric soul is advancing the strange idea that the early Church celebrated same sex relationships. He writes, "In Jewish /Christian history, there are numerous examples of same – sex relationships: David and Jonathan, Ruth and Naomi, Jesus and the Beloved Disciple, Sergius and Bacchus, and many more. Some of these pairs are named in the liturgical rite of church blessing for same...

I have often pondered why the Liberals, Progressive, Socialist, and Democrats are so quick to dismiss all possible Republican candidates. Just this morning it came to me, an epiphany if you will. The reason is because Liberals, Progressives, Socialist, and Democrats are desperate to find a reason to rationalize re-electing Obama that goes beyond the weak Obama is awesome argument. Obama provides a very low bar for executive experience, leadership, intelligence, and the oath to uphold the Constitution. Obama supporters first need to convince themselves and then persuade others that no matter how ignorant Obama reveals he is there is...

Naked Emperor News put out the definitive clip on this topic last month, with then Senator Obama and other leading Democrats railing against the so-called “nuclear option” back in 2005. But with Democrats barreling forward with their strategy to pass healthcare reform using reconciliation, I thought another reminder that the President has not always been in favor of naked power grabs couldn’t hurt.

netWMD is proud to participate in the 2,996: A Tribute to the Victims of 9/11 project. Stuck to the top until Sept. 12. Sareve Dukat kept her composure, even though the United States was under attack by Islamo-fascists, drunk on religion, hatred, and a lust for power. The date was September 11, 2001. An airliner full of civilians was just cynically rammed into tower #1 of the World Trade Center in New York City. Ms. Dukat would not survive the day that has become the defining moment for a generation of Americans, myself included. Dukat, who was working on the...

Every time I bring up the Holocaust, the same thing happens. Some of the people want Hitler's genocide to be the archetype of a people's suffering, denying others their right to bring similar atrocities to light. Some want to deny it (like current Iranian President Ahmadinejad). Some want to straddle the line or apologize: "There would have been no Hitler if not for the reparation payments put upon Germany after World War I." What are we to do, create a chart ranking peoples' suffering: "mine was worse than yours?" These were all horrors. Calling one a genocide while not allowing...

Int'l Media Justify Synagogue Burnings 18:59 Sep 13, '05 / 9 Elul 5765 By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu Several major international media outlets have justified Arab burning 19 synagogues remaining on the ruins of Gush Katif. Arab Knesset Knesset supported destroying the Jewish sanctuaries. Knight-Ridder News agency, a major news source for American dailies, reported, " 'I want to destroy everything here as they did the Al Aqsa mosque,' said Mahmoud Malahi, who told a reporter he had lost a leg to an Israeli tank when he was 15. 'I want to destroy everything here. It's a symbol of occupation. Destroying...

TROUBLE SPEAK Ward Churchill copied 'original' art piece Takes a swing at TV reporter who confronted him -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: February 26, 2005 1:00 a.m. Eastern © 2005 WorldNetDaily.com Professor Ward Churchill Adding to a growing list of allegations, controversial University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill appears to have violated copyright law by claiming a reknowned artist's work as his own. Churchill, whose integrity has been challenged since news broke earlier last month of his paper blaming victims of 9-11 for the attacks, made an Indian-theme serigraph in 1981 called "Winter Attack" and printed 150 copies. But one of the buyers,...
