The host of KPFT's (90.1 FM) "Prison Show" has resigned, citing the Pacifica Radio station's decision to prohibit him from using former talk show host and convicted felon Jon Matthews as his co-host. David Babb, who has hosted the Friday night show since January 2011, said the station is sending the wrong message by not allowing Matthews, who was a prominent, conservative-leaning host on KPRC (950 AM) and KSEV (700 AM) prior to his 2004 guilty plea to charges of indecency with a child, to appear with him on KPFT.

RICHMOND -- Former radio talk show host Jon Matthews surrendered at the Fort Bend County jail today after an arrest warrant was issued for him for allegedly violating probation. Matthews received a seven-year deferred adjudication sentence two years ago when he pleaded guilty to a charge of indecency with a child. According to court records, Matthews, 61, tested positive for alcohol, and was discussing sexual fantasies over the Internet. Matthews was placed on probation after he admitted exposing himself to an 11-year-old girl in October 2003 in his Sugar Land home. Among the conditions of the probation were that Matthews...

RICHMOND - Former radio talk show host Jon Matthews was formally sentenced to seven years' probation on a charge of indecency with a child for exposing himself to an 11-year-old girl last year in his Sugar Land home. After sentencing, the father of the victim read a statement in the court of state District Judge Brady Elliott describing Matthews' actions as inexcusable. Saying they had been neighbors for years and that the girl trusted Matthews like a grandparent, the father said Matthews exploited that trust. "We raised her to be cautious of strangers and to run to family or friends...

WHEN you work for a newspaper, you get used to it. "Your paper is too liberal." "Your paper is too conservative." "It's too this." "It's too that." Then there was the phone call I got last week from Mike Papantonio, a talk host on the Air America Radio network — the liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh and conservative talk radio. He wanted to know why we didn't cover a story — even though we did. Air America has 15 stations across the country, but none in Houston. You can hear it on Sirius and XM Satellite Radio, however. Papantonio challenged...
