‘People should be respecting and honoring him’An Iraqi Muslim interpreter for Chris Kyle spoke out against claims by MSNBC foreign correspondent Ayman Moheldin that the "American Sniper" was a racist and went on "killing sprees," sharing his own experiences with Mr. Kyle whom he considered a dear friend. In comments published Friday in IJReview, the interpreter, known by his codename Johnny Walker, said that Kyle was not a racist. He told reporters that Kyle had treated him like a brother in arms, sharing meals, talking about families and trusting him with his life. "If you're going to call Chris Kyle...

Reading all these articles and hearing all these pundits talk about Johnny Bin Walker as being treasonous and being the lowest thing on earth has made me wonder. First, how can it be treason when he is no longer a citizen. Second, although I think the guy should be killed, he gets more respect from me for having the guts to go over their and live up to his anti-American sentiments, than do these cowardly America haters over here that still enjoy the benefits of being an American citizen. How many times have we told these creeps that if they ...
  • John Walker Lindh mistreated?

Just as a legalistic memo defending torture was being leaked out of the Justice Department's inner sancta, the Los Angeles Times was giving all of us a peak at some of the separate but equally legalistic arguments being set forth in defense of John Walker Lindh.     You remember Lindh, also known as Abdul Hamid when he was with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and as Suleyman al-Faris before that, when he was about to begin training with al Qaeda. How could anyone forget him?     Lindh is now doing 20 years for supporting the enemies of the United States. But he turned...

He sits, fidgeting impatiently at the agonizing crawl of the primitive modem, the glare of his mother's computer burnishing his cheeks. He's too small for the chair he swivels in, and is thin and awkward after the classic model of the thin and awkward fourteen-year-old boy. He is mostly, but not completely, friendless, and will transfer to a new school in the fall, where a classmate will later remember him as "invisible." His parents have begun to clash more intensely than ever, casting a weary pall over the household. Obsessed with hip-hop, he feels spectacularly out of place amid the...
  • Spike Lee Weighs Power, Responsibility of Movies (hurl)

To Spike Lee, real power comes not from the barrel of a gun, but the lens of a camera. The acclaimed Brooklyn-based director of such movies as ''She's Gotta Have It,'' ''Do the Right Thing'' and ''Malcolm X'' returned to this theme often during his visit Tuesday to East Stroudsburg University. During an evening address to roughly 1,000 people at the Abeloff Convocation Center, Lee, 46, explained that while any country's military might can subjugate, the ability to ''dominate, shape and twist the way people think through culture -- music, movies, clothes, Coca-Cola and McDonald's'' -- is the true source...

Taliban warrior John Walker Lindh became a member of the terrorist al Qaeda sect because he was inspired by Spike Lee's film "Malcolm X" which he saw when he was 12-years old, his lawyer Tony West told People magazine. It was the final scene that did it, West told People. The scene that enkindled his client's eventual decision to join Osama bin Laden's holy war against America showed thousands of Muslims making their pilgrimage to Mecca to pray at the Great Mosque. "When he talks about that last scene, his face still lights up," West told People "He says that...
