Wow! What a great time we had Saturday night! The Democrats held their Jefferson Jackson Fundraiser at the Greater Richmond Convention Center with several Presidential Candidates in attendance. As Bush-bashing promised to be a central theme of the evening, three of us from the newly-formed Richmond Conservative Forum and Free Republic decided to counter them on the sidewalk. In attendance were Al, RCF's president, helmut 113 and Flora McDonald. A new poll showed Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts leading in Virginia as four of the Democratic candidates prepared to show their wares at a sold-out dinner in Richmond tonight. The Mason-Dixon opinion research poll taken for several news organizations in the state showed Kerry with 34 percentage points, Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina with 25 points and retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark with 14 points. The rest of the candidates trailed badly, while 13 percent of the likely voters were undecided. RICHMOND, Va. -- Howard Dean will skip the Virginia Democratic Party's annual fund-raising gala Saturday on the eve of the state's presidential primary, the Dean campaign said Friday. The former Vermont governor decided to skip the only joint appearance with his three chief rivals for the nomination as he focuses his struggling campaign's scarce resources on a winning the Wisconsin primary.
