July and August have not been good months for the Democrat Party or the White House. Public opinion, nationwide, has turned against the Democrat's proposed health care reform legislation, violence in Afghanistan has risen, job losses continue to mount and just Saturday one of the Presidents close advisers was forced to resign. Just when the President thought things couldn't get worse, he now knows that even his home State of Illinois has turned against his Health Care plan and economic policies. A Chicago Tribune poll conducted of 700 registered voters over the last four days of August showed some troubling...

In early March, a gal named Rosanna Pulido won the Republican primary for the upcoming special congressional election in Illinois’ District 5, Rahm Emanuel’s former kingdom. She will lose. But not before making the funnies! She was the founder of the Illinois chapter of the Minutemen, because she *hates* the Mexicans. Once in a CNN interview she described John McCain as “just another politician that acts as if he was elected to represent the Mexican government.” Well maybe he was! AND YET, her most delightful comments came under the name “chicagolady” on the Free Republic website, where she wrote hilarious...

I am hearing reports that Republicans are making huge gains in local elections in areas like Kane County, Lake County and McHenry County. Who have trended democrat last few elections. Many of these upsets were over multiple termed democrats who were thought to be unbeatable. This is incredible news that if true, shows how the left is lying in their polls and ideas.

...Pulido said she isn't intimidated by Quigley's big money lead. Quigley had raised $512,932 in the election cycle that started after the November election while Pulido collected just less than $21,000, according to Federal Election Commission filings as of March 30. Reichel, a 27-year-old French teacher and translator, said he hadn't yet filed an FEC report because he hadn't raised $5,000. "I feel like it's a David and Goliath scenario but the end of the story is David wins," said Pulido, director of the Illinois Minuteman Project, part of a national volunteer civilian border patrol group that wants to stop...

Two more Southern Illinois counties have included concealed carry advisory referendums on their ballots this Tuesday that proponents say will help convince state lawmakers that laws need to be passed to allow for it. The effectiveness of those referendums being included on Illinois voting ballots has yet to be seen, says an anti-handgun lobbyist. Tom Menard, executive director of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, said this particular election day that focuses mostly on municipal, township and school board races traditionally shows a low turnout, about 20 percent, and is not an accurate snapshot of populace attitudes and thinking. Two...

As many of you know, FreeRepublic's own CHICAGOLADY, Rosanna Pulido, is on the ballot in the IL 5th Congressional District Special Election on April 7th, only two weeks from tomorrow. This race will decide who fills the House seat vacated by Rahm Emanuel when he moved into the White House with Barack Obama. This district covers a large swath of the North Side of Chicago, and several northwest suburbs. It is a heavily Catholic area that has been dominated by the Democrat machine, but it doesn't have to stay that way. If you talk to folks in the Fifth, you...

With a special election to fill the seat vacated by Emanuel just weeks away, Democrat Michael Quigley, Republican Rosanna Pulido and Green Party candidate Matt Reichel are each planning on taking their own route to victory. For Quigley, a onetime aide to former Alderman Bernard Hansen, 44th Ward, who got 11,551 votes, that means hammering away with the same "reform and reinvent" message that helped him beat out 11 other hopefuls, including especially strong candidates like State Reps. Sara Feigenholtz and John Fritchey, said Quigley spokesman Billy Weinberg. "People voted for Mike's message of open and honest government, and his...

On Saturday afternoon, in the midst of Chicago’s famous St. Patrick’s Day celebration with its tradition of turning of the Chicago River green, a cadre of concerned Republicans met to plan a way to capture the Congressional seat of Chicago’s 5th District, the one being vacated by Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. The candidate charged with this task is Rosanna Pulido and she only has about three weeks to do it. The special election for Emanuel’s seat is to be held as soon as April 7th. Her supporters and other interested parties (me included) met at the top of...
