I am hearing reports that Republicans are making huge gains in local elections in areas like Kane County, Lake County and McHenry County. Who have trended democrat last few elections.
Many of these upsets were over multiple termed democrats who were thought to be unbeatable.
This is incredible news that if true, shows how the left is lying in their polls and ideas.

Was the election today? Today is Tuesday right? Or wednesday?
Would be nice if you had stats rather than 2nd hand. I hope it is true!
I am sorry, my friend is reading the results from his newspaper to me...too excited to do much other research. Sounds really good!!!! Very few democrats are being elected in those areas. These are local elections but in generally democrat areas!
Cool!
Republicans?
Hmmm...
The right wing of the socialist party...
“Trust, but verify”
Ronald Reagan
Yep, I’m extremely underwhelmed. Imagine how socialist they have to be to win in IL...
We know that Jim Schwantz was big up in Palatine.
What are you talking about ?
I haven’t heard anything about any huge gains. As far as I know the only things that were up were suburban mayoralties and councils.
This week, every township in Illinois (1,034 of them) held elections. Most of the state also held elections for mayor, town trustee, school board, library board, and/or park district board.
I lived in Lake Co. for six years, and I didn’t hear many good results, from that county. Bob Cook, a conservative candidate for Wauconda Township supervisor, lost. Dave Ratliff, a conservative candidate for Zion town commissioner, lost.
And in those races the ones I was talking about were absolute routs for Republicans, including in Carpentersville and Elgin. Also, out by me in Savanna which is a democrat town the Republican mayoral candidate beat the democrat incumbent. In Mount Carroll, a “heavily” democrat backed mayoral candidate was tromped by the Republican incumbent 70% to 30% or so...
I think it portends well for freedom when democrats are getting beat, even in democrat areas!
Carpentersville, Elgin, kane country in general had many democrats defeated in fact, my friend claimed only two democrats won. I grew up in Wauconda and have been saddened by the democrat takeover there. But, the Republicans won’t work while the democrats really get out there and work. You quoted conservatives, I am wondering how things went Republican/democrat wise. My friend claimed democrats took a beating in Lake County races also...not true?
In some parts of Lake Co., Republicans won. In other parts, Democrats won. No party had big gains, in that county.
Do you know of any local elected officials who should run for the state legislature, in 2010? The website of the Illinois Center Right Coalition, www.illinoiscenterright.com, states,
“These are the democrat elected officials the ICRC will concentrate on defeating in 2010:
State Sen. Michael Noland of the 22nd Dist.
St. Sen. Michael Bond, of the 31st Dist.
St. Rep. Keith Farnham, of the 43rd Dist.
St. Rep. Paul Froehlich, of the 56th Dist.
St. Rep. Mark Walker, of the 66th Dist.
St. Rep. Jehan Gordon, of the 92nd Dist.”
Why would they have to be “local elected officials”...maybe that is part of the problem the Illinois Republicans are having...that and they do not “compete” from a philosophical difference...we should be trouncing the democrats with their own philosophical weaknesses but we stick to a couple of cliches instead...
I think that a candidate would have higher name recognition and a better chance of winning, if he or she already has an elective office. However, I think that having conservative views is more important. I hope that, next year, many conservative elected officials will run for higher offices.
“Do you know of any local elected officials who should run for the state legislature, in 2010?”
As I live in the city of course I know of none.
But those districts you cited should be crawling with them.
Good news but I don’t think ‘local’ elections portend national or statewide trends rather they are fought only on local issues. In 2007 a Republican was elected Mayor of Indianapolis and Republicans took the city council. Then they elected a Muslim moonbat to congress and went very heavily for Obama.
