Voters are heading to the polls Tuesday to pick a replacement for Rahm Emanuel in the 5th Congressional District.
Democrat Mike Quigley, now a Cook County commissioner, hopes to succeed Emanuel. If elected, he will represent much of the city's North and Northwest sides, as well as a handful of near western suburbs.
Quigley is up against Republican Rosanna Pulido, founder of the Illinois Minuteman Project, and Green Party candidate Matthew Reichel, a peace activist.
Polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.

I hope the Greenie splits the RAT vote!
*Crook County commissioner* I noticed that (typo) : )
Hahahaha Freudian slip maybe!
They could probably split the Democrat vote several times and the Republican still wouldn’t win.
We shall see if Rosanna can pull this off
I walked four precincts for Rosanna. I didn’t see any Quigley yard signs, but I saw several Pulido signs. Many Democrats won’t vote because they assume that Quigley will easily win. Chicago is colder than usual, for April. The temp., here, is about 35 degrees. Many people won’t vote, because of the weather. The majority of those people are Democrats, so Rosanna will get a higher percentage.
I voted close to an hour ago out here in Rochelle. It's 480 and sunny. But there were more poll workers than voters in the two precincts represented. That's small town America for ya...
Ping!
Good for you and Rosanna. I hope she wins. How many precincts in all?
That’s right ChicagoLady. Go for it.
Since this district has produced Rostenkowski, Blagojevich and Emanuel as three of the last four Congressmen, my hopes aren’t high, but wouldn’t it be great if Ms. Pulido pulls this one off?
I forgot the exact number of precincts, in the district. I think that it’s between 525 & 550.
Yes, it would be great. I said, on the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times sites, “President Obama says that we should change the government. We can do that by electing more conservatives. Many of the district’s voters think that their last two congressmen, Rahm Emanuel and Rod Blagojevich, were corrupt and liberal. If the district’s voters want to vote for a big change, they’ll elect the only conservative, in the race, Ms. Pulido.”
Viva Pulido! Viva Minutemen! Si Se Puede!
Chicago voters going to the polls...
Mike “Reform” Quigley(D)?!
From O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Junior ODaniel: A lot of people like that reform. Maybe we should get us some.
Pappy ODaniel: Ill reform you, you soft-headed sumbitch. How we gonna run reform when were the damn incumbent? Is that the best idea you boys can come up with? Reform?! Weepin jesus on the cross. Thats it! You may as well start drafting my concession speech right now.
Give em hell, Rosanna!
The Chicago Sun-Times endorsed Quigley because he said that he’s a reformer. The Sun-Times also endorsed Rod Blagojevich, a few times, because he said that he was a reformer. We saw how he reformed the government, so that should decrease the influence of Sun-Times endorsements.
Don;t make me come up there!
Win this thing!
Go,Chicagolady,go!!!!!
