By suspending his campaign instead of quitting his campaign, Herman can still get federal matching funds in 2012. But the campaign is over. Even had it continued, it was over. I had thought and expected that Cain would continue until Iowa. He had enough money. Dropping out after losing in Iowa would have distracted from the present issues. Dropping out now will be viewed by a great many as an admission against interests that Herman Cain did have a 13 year affair.

Joel Bennett, the lawyer for one of the former employees of the National Restaurant Association who accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment, spoke to Wolf Blitzer live on CNN moments ago. U.S. Rep. Steve King gave his opinion of news that GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain was previously accused of sexual harassment. Liberal attack-dog organization Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission Friday over allegations that Prosperity USA, a nonprofit advocacy corporation run by Herman Cain campaign manager Mark Block, paid for iPads and travel related to Cain’s presidential campaign. If true, says CREW, the Cain campaign — and Block personally — would be guilty of violating at least two federal election laws. A new ABC News/Washington Post poll out today shows the allegations stemming from Cain's tenure in the 1990s as head of the National Restaurant Association haven't made much of an impact. Seven in 10 Republicans in the survey say the allegations don't matter when it comes to picking a presidential candidate. A majority of GOP and GOP-leaning voters, or 55%, say the allegations are not a "serious matter." But the poll, taken Oct. 31-Nov. 3, shows some challenges for Cain. As readers may have guessed, I really like the London tabloids and broadsheets, particularly the London Daily Mail. The newspaper watches the USA like a hawk as its editors shed light on interesting stories that Yankee editors blow off. But today, the London Daily Mail showed its London Derriere with its silly coverage on Herman Cain, even as the story dies due to lack of interest. Someone sent the newspaper pictures from his yearbook for nearly a half-century ago and he is shown with — gasp — two different co-eds. Shocking.

Ok, this has been bothering me. According to Wikipedia, Cain became CEO of the NRA in 1996 until 1999. This is a 3 year span out of all his 40 something years of being in the workforce. This is when all these supposed sexual harassments took place, right? So my question is--why would he suddenly become a pervert during these 3 years and no other time?

The settlement agreement between the National Restaurant Association and a woman who accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment was reached in September 1999--and was not signed by Cain himself, according to Joel Bennett, a lawyer for the woman. Bennett, who has a copy of the settlement agreement, said four people signed it: the woman, two lawyers representing the association and Bennett himself. Bennett said the agreement was resolved relatively quickly, about two or three months after she complained.
