Poll: GOP Voters Dismiss Cain Allegiations
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Fri, Nov 04, 2011 at 11:49AM)

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll out today shows the allegations stemming from Cain's tenure in the 1990s as head of the National Restaurant Association haven't made much of an impact.

Seven in 10 Republicans in the survey say the allegations don't matter when it comes to picking a presidential candidate. A majority of GOP and GOP-leaning voters, or 55%, say the allegations are not a "serious matter."

But the poll, taken Oct. 31-Nov. 3, shows some challenges for Cain. Among the 39% who say the allegations are serious, half say it makes them less likely to support the businessman for president.

"If views of the seriousness of the issue were to increase, Cain's support could be at risk," ABC polling director Gary Langer writes in a memo accompanying the survey.

The National Restaurant Association says it will decide today whether to release one of Cain's accusers from a confidentiality agreement so she can issue a statement.

In other developments, Cain's wife reportedly will not do an interview tonight with Fox News. Gloria Cain has "apparently had a change of heart," in the words of The New York Times.

During an appearance on Sean Hannity's radio show, Herman Cain said Thursday that his wife is "200% supportive of me" both as a candidate and as her husband.

“Among the 39% who say the allegations are serious, half say it makes them less likely to support the businessman for president. “

Once Cain is nominated, they will forget about Romney and Paul.

1) Probably absolutely false, and is the kind of claim you get when The Left goes all huffy. "You look very attractive today" was a compliment back in my dad's era.

2) Hey, Lefties...I was taught that even if TRUE that "sex is no reason to get rid of a President(ial candidate.) Hey, Bubba didn't just SUGGEST sex, he banged an INTERN in the OVAL OFFICE with a SECRETARY LISTENING and then committed PERJURY BEFORE A GRAND JURY and it meant absolutely NOTHING TO YOU. Why the HELL should I give a damn what your puppets in the Media claim?

Cain's current Iowa fund total: $429,000. And I think he just started that yesterday!

Get used to it, media schlubs.

Sooner or later some Tea Party candidate...Cain, Sarah Palin, somebody....is going to win the White House by RUNNING AGAINST YOU!

You guys are about as popular as hemorrhoids, North Korea or O.J. Simpson with most of the public.

The MSM has helped to raise Cain’s profile with GOP voters. The upside to the sexual harrassment stories is he got lots of free advertising and national exposure.

This beats the paid ads. If people wondered before if he was a front-runner, there’s no longer any doubt about it.

Cain the candidate is the national story now.

Many Republican voters are in the conservative camp and so, are informed and astute when it comes to political 'dirty tricks' the left pull on Republican candidates and office holders. We know full well that the anonymous, pointedly vague accusations of improper conduct by Herman Cain are false and groundless. Some female employee of the National Restaurant Association may have made some amorphous claim of harassment against Cain back in the '90's and when it was investigated and found to be baseless, she was 'separated' from the organization and given severance pay. That is hardly a 'scandal', no matter how much the leftmedia try to pretend that it is.

Serious, responsible people look at the situation, at Cain's career and his background and see this for what it is: a smear, plain and simple. That's why 'GOP voters dismiss allegations' of wrongdoing lodged against Herman Cain. We've been here before and we won't be fooled again. These allegations against Herman Cain, like allegations against Republican candidates in the past, i.e. George Bush's National Guard attendance record, usually come to nothing except a big distraction for both candidate and voters.

I think many people are just fed up with this political-correctness-gone-amok, where you can’t even open a door for a woman nowadays without fear of “offending her”.

It’s a bunch of BS.

Oh, no. Now they’re going to have a field day with him not knowing any better than to say 200%. Just wait. Since they couldn’t make this scandal stick, they’ll be making up more bs.
