Copenhagen grinds to halt The Danish capital has ground to a halt after a power cut struck the city and parts of neighbouring Sweden. Traffic signals and lights in offices, shops and homes in Copenhagen went out as the city of 1.8 million lost electricity. Power is also out in southern Sweden, said Stieg Claesson, a spokesman for power company Sydkraft. Nearly 2 million Swedes did not have electricity, including the subway in the capital, Stockholm, which shut down for 30 minutes.
