The mass shooting in Buffalo, New York will dominate the news cycle a bit more. The bad economic news is just too much to ignore. Americans can and do have the ability to be horrified by this tragedy, but also worry about how they’re going to pay the bills. For mothers, the lack of baby formula has become a more pressing concern. Domestic crises will drown out the Left’s call for more gun control and the silly narrative about the existential threat we face from white nationalists. No one cares because they know the threat isn’t real. This was done...

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are getting into the investment business. They are joining Ethic, a fintech asset manager in the fast-growing environmental, social and governance space, as “impact partners” and investors. Ethic has $1.3 billion under management and creates separately managed accounts to invest in social responsibility themes. The couple could attract more attention to sustainable investing. Harry and Meghan can make E.S.G. investing part of pop culture in a way that, say, BlackRock’s Larry Fink can’t. “From the world I come from, you don’t talk about investing, right?” Meghan told DealBook in a joint interview...

...the study provides the strongest evidence yet that the upsurge quakes in the past decade across Central and mid-America is at least partially to be blamed on humans. More than 300 earthquakes have occurred from 2010 to 2012 compared to an average rate of 21 every year from 1967 to 2000, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Most have ranged from 2.0 to 3.6 on the Richter scale but there have been exceptions, including a 5.6 event in central Oklahoma in November 2011 that destroyed 14 homes and injured two people.

Sorry about the vanity but I already in the past few hours have heard multiple references stop not being sure what James Lee motives were or questions about whether he was right-wing or left-wing because he mentioned being against anchor babies. Alan Colmes on my drive home was ranting at Steve Mulzberg that he was against ‘anchor babies’ and that was a right-wing cause. Well I happen to have the book ‘ISHMAEL’ on my bookshelf. I read it sometime about ten years ago and James Lee motives for being against immigration all come from this book as well. It has...

It's bizarre whenever I hear liberals complain about "holier than thou" social conservatives preaching to them about moral values when liberals do it ALL the time. Oh, how they love to cry "hypocrite" when conservatives actually set standards for themselves, yet fall short of living up to those standards. My definition of a hypocrite is someone who preaches what he doesn't actually believe. That's different than someone who strives to live up to a standard, but falls short. "Anything goes"-type of liberals have no standards, so they'll never disappoint themselves by embracing immoral lifestyles. But then we have the...

2009 has brought us dozens of "do-gooder" green apps that focus on the brighter side of environmental friendly living — apps that help you shop green, eat green, give to green charities, or live a more green lifestyle. But now EcoSnoop is contributing a much-needed dose of vigilante justice to the mix of eco-friendly iPhone apps. The EcoSnoop app lets individuals report on wastage of water, energy, trash or toxic pollutants. You can view cases filed near you via GPS and add documentation using photos and commentary. You can create your own complaints if, for example, your grocery store is...

Former US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney, who is in an Israeli jail for trying to take humanitarian aid to Gaza, says the White House has done nothing to secure her release. Speaking to Press TV from inside the Israeli jail, she said US taxpayers paid for Israel's 22-day war on the Gaza Strip. “Operation Cast Lead was made possible by the US taxpayers' gift to the Israeli war machine in the form of F16s, helicopters gunship, white phosphorous, depleted uranium, cluster bombs and anything that kills," she told Press TV from inside the Israeli jail on Saturday. McKinney has been in...

CALIFORNIA Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will go to New York on Monday to discuss his landmark law on global warming with fellow Republicans as pressure builds on US President George W. Bush to take a tougher stance on greenhouse gases. Mr Schwarzenegger will meet separately with Gov. George Pataki and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg "to discuss the implementation of California's landmark market-based greenhouse gas emissions reduction system," his office said overnight. Last month, Mr Schwarzenegger signed the Democratic-sponsored Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, which mandates caps on emissions to reduce greenhouse gases 25 percent by 2020. The governor,...

FORMER Soviet president turned greenie Mikhail Gorbachev was considering establishing a branch of his environmental organisation in Brisbane. Mr Gorbachev founded Green Cross International in 1993, building on the work started by the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The organisation, which focuses on the link between environmental problems and international conflicts, has branches in 30 countries, but not Australia. Mr Gorbachev, in Brisbane to co-chair the three-day Earth Dialogues forum that started today, said it was "God's will" to make Brisbane the headquarters of Australia's Green Cross International. "I believe that we would have a very strong...

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today applauded the release of a report by his Climate Action Team that contains recommendations to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Last June, the Governor issued an executive order establishing unprecedented pollution reduction targets and the creation of a team of experts to recommend ways to achieve those goals. "As we begin a dialogue on the findings of this report, I would like to congratulate the Climate Action Team for their hard work and dedication to reducing greenhouse gases," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "I asked for 'out of the box' thinking to achieve groundbreaking reductions in greenhouse...

James Howard Kunstler's new book, The Long Emergency, depicts humans as parasites who might benefit from a mass die-off. Speak for yourself. ___ Review of: The Long Emergency: Surviving the Converging Catastrophes of the Twenty-First Century, by James Howard Kunstler, Atlantic Books, 2005. As recently as a decade ago it was unusual to encounter books predicting the imminent collapse of civilisation and probable extinction of the human race. When they appeared they were outside the mainstream, specialist philosophy texts or on the extremist fringe of environmentalism. Today such works are common. The core elements of the litany are predictable: climate...

A former employee with an extremist bent ignited the fire that destroyed part of Stock Building Supply in West Jordan in June, according to federal charges. Prosecutors labeled Justus A. Ireland, 23, a "domestic terrorist" Tuesday, saying he started the blaze in the name of the Earth Liberation Front, a group of underground environmental extremists. Ireland has confessed, according to prosecutors, resulting in an arson charge filed against him in U.S. District Court late Monday afternoon. "A blight on our community has been extinguished," said Chip Burrus, FBI special agent in charge. Federal officials had expected Ireland to plead guilty...

FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. -- Paul Watson leans back into a fluffy couch surrounded by swords and confides that his reputation as a crazed, eco-terrorist pirate actually helps him perform his mission. He used to have to actually ram and sink whaling ships to be effective, Watson explains. Now he's considered so dangerous that all he has to do is show up. During the past 30 years, Watson takes credit for sinking eight whaling ships and ramming six other vessels. He's faced off navies and brawled on Canadian ice over the killing of baby harp seals. He was beaten, shot at...
