Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) skipped out on a Michigan police officer’s funeral on Wednesday, as she is slated to attend President Joe Biden’s White House meeting with Democrat governors in person. Whitmer’s director of communications, Bobby Leddy, reportedly confirmed in an email that Whitmer would attend the closed-door meeting in person, taking place on Wednesday. This means that Whitmer seemingly prioritized the Biden crisis meeting in Washington, DC, over a funeral for Michigan police officer William “Bill” Butler Jr. Butler, 51, died in the line of duty as a result of a shootout with a suspect, Eric Fiddler of...

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) denied a report that claimed she said Michigan — a key swing state — was lost after President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance on Thursday. Whitmer posted on X, “Anyone who claims I would say that we can’t win Michigan is full of #$#_. Let’s go.” Politico’s Jonathan Martin reported Monday that Whitmer called Biden campaign chair Jennifer O’Malley Dillon on Friday to say she was not behind any chatter of her replacing Biden, but she also said that Michigan was no longer winnable for Biden.

Gretchen Whitmer...

For politicians, one would think it would have been an open-and-shut case, and in earlier, saner ages in our national life, it would have been. If a group of people in America get together and scream “Death to America,” officials ought to be lining up to condemn them, and there should be investigations and, if non-citizens are involved, deportations. We live, however, in Old Joe Biden’s America, in which the America-hating left is the dominant cultural force, and so some high-profile politicians have been notably wary about condemning calls for the destruction of the nation they have vowed to protect...

The program "provides Refugees and other Newcomer population-eligible households with rental assistance up to $500 per month for up to 12 months, with eligibility based on immigration status and household income."Program applicants must have eligible immigration status, which includes refugees, asylum-seekers, special immigration visa holders, victims of human trafficking, Cubans, Haitians, Afghan...

LANSING – Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a slate of new gun control bills into law on November 20 that confiscate firearms and ammunition from people in Michigan who have been convicted of both violent and non-violent misdemeanors under new legal definitions of “domestic violence misdemeanors” established in the new laws. These bills, passed by the democrat-controlled state house and senate, broadly expand the category of misdemeanors considered to be “domestic violence” to include many infractions that are clearly not violent, allow law enforcement to confiscate all firearms from anyone convicted of these misdemeanors, and prohibit anyone convicted of these misdemeanors...

On November 28, Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer signed bills that will revamp electricity generation in the state. The new measures include a requirement for utilities to achieve a 100% clean energy standard by 2040. The measures also transfer authority over large-scale wind and solar projects from local governments to the state’s Public Service Commission. Whitmer emphasized that Michigan is well-equipped, both in terms of its workforce and the newly enacted legislation, to foster robust economic growth in the clean energy sector. The impact of the new laws will be felt in areas such as project locations, electricity sources, and power...

Now that state legislators have adjourned two months early for the year, the Michigan primary election will be held on February 27, 2024, putting the Republican primary in violation of Republican National Convention (RNC) rules so that Michigan delegates will no longer be counted towards the winner of the Republican National Convention. To stem a competition between states to move the primaries earlier and earlier, the RNC established a longstanding rule that only New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada, and South Carolina can hold their primaries prior to March 1, as those states have done so for decades. The penalty set by...

On Tuesday, Michigan Judge James Redford ruled that Donald Trump will remain on the Michigan Presidential ballot for 2024. A Michigan judge on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit that tried to use the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban” to remove Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot. The judge separately ruled that Michigan’s secretary of state doesn’t have the power under state law to determine Trump’s eligibility for office based on the constitutional amendment. The rulings mark a major victory for the former president, who has a commanding lead in the 2024 Republican presidential primary race, according to recent polling. Recently, a ruling in...

Is Michigan’s bitter, lesbian AG Dana Nessel’s time running out? It’s possible, but it won’t be a walk in the park. Republicans, currently the minority, have just filed impeachment articles against Nessel. They’re accusing her of abusing her authority to target her enimies and shield the regime. So, will Michigan’s TDS-infected DA face impeachment? Time will tell, though it’s certainly an uphill battle. The Midwesterner: In what legislative insiders indicate is a longshot, eight Michigan House Republicans announced they’re seeking the impeachment of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Rep. James DeSana, R-Carlton, announced Thursday he and his colleagues had filed...

Is Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer running a shadow campaign for the Democrat nomination for president? Much like California Governor Gavin Newsom, she’s everywhere these days. Her particular style of aggressive ambition is a little more subtle than Newsom’s but it’s becoming clear – Gretchen wants to run for president. The new Barbie movie has provided Whitmer with an opportunity to show off “Little Gretch”, a Governor Barbie that looks like her. Allegedly her staff came up with the idea to show a Governor Barbie going about the work of the governor. Women Democrats and the NeverTrump former Republican grifters who support...

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed two new gun control measures in response to the February 13, 2023, Michigan State University shooting, neither of which would have prevented that shooting from taking place. The Detroit News reported that one of the bills is universal background check legislation. The other is a gun storage law. Michigan already has a law requiring a background check for a handgun via a permitting process. The newly signed legislation expands that to cover long guns too.

Michigan’s Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed into law Wednesday a repeal of the state’s near-total abortion ban, guaranteeing that abortion-on-demand will remain legal for the foreseeable future. The Associated Press reports that the new law repeals a statute dating back to 1931 that made abortion a felony punishable by up to four years in prison. It was rendered unenforceable in 1973 with the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling, which the Court reversed last June in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. “Today, we’re going to take action to make sure that our statutes and our laws reflect our...

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) said Friday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is endangering national security by “using language that is coming out of the Kremlin.” Previewing her interview that will air in full Sunday, host Jen Psaki said, “I asked her, you know Ron DeSantis made several comments that over the course, well actually in a questionnaire to Tucker Carlson, he made these comments where he called it a territorial dispute, which by the way is what Putin calls it. Governor Whitmer said that’s echoing Kremlin talking points.”

A Michigan state representative released a statement in the aftermath of the Michigan State University mass shooting that left three dead and five others wounded, saying, "F**k your thoughts and prayers," and the state needs more gun control laws on the books. "I want to extend my deepest condolences to the Michigan State University community," said Michigan House Majority Whip Ranjeev Puri (D). "What happened in East Lansing is unfortunately far too common. Going to school in America, whether it's pre-school or college, means risking your life every day to the threat of a mass shooting. Michigan Gov. I have lived here my whole life. And this is where my focus is for the next four years,” Whitmer responded when asked by CNN’s “State of the Union” host Dana Bash if she would be interested in launching a presidential campaign in 2024 or 2028. “I’m going to make Michigan an even stronger place, where people come to for opportunity,” Whitmer...

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — They railed against politicians, conducted military-style exercises and spoke darkly of confronting tyrants scheming to seize their guns and enslave them. Yet historian JoEllen Vinyard says the “citizen militia” activists she got to know in the 1990s didn’t seem like the types who would abduct a governor or stage a coup. “I don’t think they were dangerous,” said Vinyard, an Eastern Michigan University professor emeritus and author of a book about far-right movements in the state. “They reminded me of the good old boys I knew growing up in Nebraska.” But as four men charged...
