Two weeks ago, a NATO blockade of Kaliningrad, an outpost of Russia, was triggered when Lithuania blocked the transport of goods through Suwalki corridor. According to the Lithuanian justification they were following through on NATO sanctions against Russian goods. However, the escalation was very provocative toward Russia and discussions between Russia and NATO countries were tense. Apparently, Germany was increasingly concerned the blockade was creating a scenario where Russian military were going to escort the transport of railroad goods to Kaliningrad, and that would lead to escalated military conflict with Russia.

You know the old song, “Where have all the flowers gone?” What I want to know is, where have all the moonbats gone? The preposterous president these clueless trustafarians elected has now started a war with no congressional authorization and exactly one resolution from the United Nations. George Bush got 17 U.N. resolutions before invading Iraq and the limousine liberals sneered that it was a “rush to war.” So where are all the candlelight vigils? Whatever happened to “War is Not the Answer?” Does this “unilateral action” make Barack Obama a, gulp, “cowboy?” Is a village missing its idiot? When...

From today's New York Times... John Lennon The Beatles united a generation of young people with their songs, their attitudes and their sense of style, and John Lennon was the thinking man's Beatle. Of the four, he was the Beatle who wrote books, the Beatle who embroiled the group in a potentially disastrous controversy by suggesting in an interview that they were more popular than Jesus, the Beatle who embraced the poetic innovations of Bob Dylan in the mid-1960's and shocked Beatles fans by jumping into performance art, happenings and political protests in the late 60's and early 70's. ..."...

It was almost painful the other night to hear Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young sing about a war whose purpose Americans never really understood, started by a president who didn’t tell the truth and then waged the war ineptly. And that was before they sang about Iraq. The audience rose for Neil Young’s blast at George Bush, “Let’s Impeach the President,” and sang the words displayed on a huge TV screen, even the 20-something in front of us who had been text-messaging throughout the concert. That same screen also displayed thumbnail photos of slain soldiers while a counter ran up...

Prehistoric tools, weapons discovered in Peruvian Andes AFP August 20, 2006 LIMA -- A team of Peruvian and US archaeologists have discovered prehistoric stone tools and weapons some 10,000 years old in an Andean town, the National Institute of Culture announced Friday. Stone axes, spearheads, and weapons were found in the main square of San Pedro de Chavin de Huantar, an Andean town some 400 kilometers (250 miles) north of Lima, officials said. "This discovery represents exceptional evidence of the presence of inhabitants in the Pleistocene era," the Institute said in a statement. The Pleistocene went from about 1.6 million...

A group of black ministers announced a plan today to help stop violence in Minneapolis' North Side neighborhoods. Rev. Jerry McAfee of New Salem Baptist Church said he would make his a church where people could turn in guns without any questions. Earlier this week, a person he didn't want to identified turned in a loaded 9mm Beretta. McAfee said any guns the church receives will be immediately given to police. McAfee, who was surrounded by other North Side ministers, activists and members of the Minnesota State Baptist Convention, said they are also working with gang members to get them...

Gun battles erupt throughout Gaza Khaled Abu Toameh, THE JERUSALEM POST Mar. 20, 2006 At least 12 Palestinians were wounded in fierce gun battles that erupted in various parts of the Gaza Strip on Monday between Palestinian policemen and disgruntled Fatah militiamen. The clashes, the worst in months, came less than 24 hours after Hamas presented its new cabinet to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas is under heavy pressure from his Fatah party not to approve the Hamas cabinet, sources close to the PA chairman told The Jerusalem Post. They said several Fatah leaders had warned Abbas against endorsing...

What if the US had saved all the money it has spent over the past 65 years instead of spending it on Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and others? What if the US had let Saddam Hussein keep his foothold in Kuwait? What if the US had allowed NORIEGA to remain in power in Panama? What if the US didn’t defend its vital interests’ in Europe and allowed socialist Hitler, imperialist Japan or communist Stalin to reign supreme? For “liberal” readers, over 100 million people perished at the hands of those two kindred socialist political spirits. And American “socialists”...
  • Denver voters could force city to reduce stress

Stressed out? Then move here in time to vote in the November election. A measure on Denver's ballot would order city government to "ensure public safety" by adopting and promoting "stress-reducing techniques or programs." The anti-stress election proposal, believed to be a first in the nation, doesn't tell Denver's local government how to do it, merely to work for it. But the measure's author, Denver activist Jeff Peckman, suggests soothing music in public places, improved nutrition in school lunches and other calming steps. Peckman, 49, compares his "Initiative for Safety Through Peace" to an alternative form of municipal garbage collection....

The real Bush plan Posted: December 6, 2002 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Ellen Ratner © 2002 WorldNetDaily.com Many people, especially on the left, were surprised when Capt. Ahab Bush finally agreed to send U.N. inspectors to Iraq in search of the Great White Whale of Mass Destruction. Was our commander in chief, a formerly blustering unilateralist suddenly seized by an attack of bleeding-heart globalony? I don't think so. Instead, I think Bush has a plan, which I would like to share with you, my devoted readers. For starters, Bush has as much faith in Hans "Mr. Magoo" Blix as I...
  • McDermott accuses Bush of plotting to be Emperor

U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott broadened his attack on George W. Bush's war plans yesterday, saying the president is threatening military action in Iraq as part of a plot to crown himself emperor of America. Criticized for saying on a trip to Iraq early last week that Bush would mislead the American public, McDermott, a Seattle Democrat, was back in his district yesterday telling cheering supporters that Bush is planning a war to distract voters' attention from domestic problems. He said Bush is trying to "submarine" efforts to restart weapons inspections in Iraq to give him a pretext for starting...

NEW YORK, Oct 7 (AFP) - Tens of thousands of people, led by some top Hollywood stars, demonstrated on the streets of the United States' largest cities to protest President George W. Bush's US plans to invade Iraq. In New York on Sunday, at least 15,000 people gathered in Central Park to denounce Washington's stance towards Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, including Oscar-winning movie star Susan Sarandon and her actor husband Tim Robbins. Sarandon, star of hit films such as "Thelma and Louise" slammed the Bush administration's alleged bellicose policy as "madness ... a war that would kill hundreds of...

SEATTLE - More than 5,000 people marched from Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood to Westlake Center downtown Sunday, protesting the Bush administration's policy toward Iraq. Congressman Jim McDermott addressed the crowd, telling protesters that Bush is out for war. In a short speech, the Seattle Democrat didn't talk about his recent trip to Baghdad, for which he was heavily criticized by some conservatives. Afterward, he said his critics have nicknamed him "Jihad Jim" because they have nothing intelligent to say. There were a handful of pro-Bush supporters at the rally. One person carried a sign reading: "Jihad Jim loves Saddam."

I went to the Jim McDermott Town Hall Meeting in Seattle today. A handful of FReepers were there with some excellent signs ("Go back to Bagdhad"). Unfortunately the vast majority of those attending (at least 250) in the packed room were gung-ho supporters of McDermott. Jihad Jim literally spent the entire 1 1/2 hours of his meeting bashing the USA. He said that the war on Iraq was merely a ploy by President Bush to distract the American people from the economy. He spoke of dying children in Iraq and polluted water and blamed the US. In fact he blamed...

The Washington State Puget Sound Chapter AFTER RALLY Report on Baghdad Jim McDermRAT and the Seattle Anti-War march was a great success! We arrived at Baghdad Jim’s Town Hall meeting. When McDermRAT arrived we surrounded him and called out “Stay in Baghdad” and held up signs. The sign I was especially proud of read:”Saddam GOODBush BAD”This is Bagdad Jim’s mind on drugs. LOL The quotations marks drove the lefties up the wall because they said they weren’t his exact words. I suggested they get over it.
