Two weeks ago, a NATO blockade of Kaliningrad, an outpost of Russia, was triggered when Lithuania blocked the transport of goods through Suwalki corridor. According to the Lithuanian justification they were following through on NATO sanctions against Russian goods. However, the escalation was very provocative toward Russia and discussions between Russia and NATO countries were tense.
Apparently, Germany was increasingly concerned the blockade was creating a scenario where Russian military were going to escort the transport of railroad goods to Kaliningrad, and that would lead to escalated military conflict with Russia.

don’t be silly! the pain is for us! and it is working!
Buried the lede - Biden fails again.
“Sanctions” punish the sanctioner.
exactly!
war is peace
ignorance is strength
slavery is freedom
the target of the sanctions is the western populations and economies.
though quick retreat on the kaliningrad issue has the flavor of people with no clue what they are doing trying just about anything to actually provoke a military response from russia. this would be the optimistic scenario.
russia knows the US needs a foreign war - they have said so openly and anyone with a grasp of history knows it is true.
it is the best hope for this administration. russia is unlikely to give it to the US on US terms, and likely intends to not give the US a war at all if possible, and to resume business in europe, esp. germany, at some point.
Sanity prevails. Now to finally stop that madman Zelensky and bring him to justice as a traitor to Ukraine.
The first time you back down you set the precedent.
Vietnam - US left
Syria - US left
Afghanistan - US left
Europeans can see a pattern here.
If Putin expands the war to NATO territory, Kaliningrad will be cut off. My wife who is from Odessa, told here relatives in Kaliningrad back in March that they should leave.
From what I understand, it was Russia supplying Russia. No rational reason for q country not at war to block that.
Lithuania has said that it will put the embargo on sanctioned goods into effect no matter if the EU grants a waiver. The Poles are also asking why this only applies to goods crossing Lithuania’s borders. Smells like Putin has some people on the payroll in Brussels.
We are still in Syria, stealing their oil, wheat, and running a terrorist training camp at Al Tanf.
Falsehood / grave misuse of language in FIRST SENTENCE!
FAIL!
There was never any "blockade."
Not permitting a foreign power to transport its (sanctioned) cargo across your territory is NOT a "blockade."
Article loses all credibility in first sentence.
Regards,
Yup.
Like everything Dementia Joe attempts to do to Russia has failed.
No?
What's it then?
Article loses all credibility in first sentence.
Your entire post has ZERO credibility.
If you want to fight the Russians go for it. Just leave us out of it.
“Lithuania has said that it will put the embargo on sanctioned goods into effect no matter if the EU grants a waiver.”
With the EU telling Lithuania that they are violating earlier treaties and thus blockading Russia, Lithuania may find themselves having a tough time invoking Article 5 of the NATO Charter (i.e., WW3), once Russia begins clearing a path through Lithuania, in response to the EU declaration.
In the end, due to the EU, this blockade ends the same way, with the only question being how much land, if any, Lithuania loses.
