I want to update all of you who prayed for my Aunt Florence who was diagnosed with Covid-19. It is with a heavy heart to tell you that she passed away last night only six days after being diagnosed. She went very peacefully on angel's wings and I have no doubt that your prayers brought this about with hundreds of others who prayed. I am deeply grateful at the outpouring of concern from all of you who prayed and sent me messages. You are all very special and wonderful Americans whom I'm proud to associate with and call friends. I...

In the past I have posted regarding my wife's mental illness and the tough times we have endured because of it. Now I am devastated to tell you all that our 19 year old daughter took her own life on November 23rd. She was diagnosed as bi-polar and was very distraught over her best friend's suicide last year. I've never had to go through anything near this bad and I pray none of you ever do. The loss of one's child is beyond horrendous. So far we've been doing ok but there are periods of extreme grief out of the...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actor Robert Wagner says he was so distraught over the break-up of his first marriage to actress Natalie Wood that he pondered suicide and would sit with a gun outside the home of her lover, Warren Beatty, intent on killing him. "Pieces of My Heart," Wagner's autobiography released this week, reveals details of his career and life, including the split with Wood, their decision to remarry a decade later and her drowning death in 1981. "I was pretty young, and I don't think I could have ever gone through with that act, but I was pretty...

Sabre-toothed tiger was just a pussycat By Roger Highfield, Science Editor Last Updated: 12:01am BST 02/10/2007 It may have had some of the most ferocious teeth ever seen on a mammal but scientists say that the much feared sabre-tooth tiger was actually a bit of a pussycat. Smilodon, the sabre-tooth tiger, roamed across North and South America until 10,000 years ago Powerfully built, with upper canines like knives, the sabre-tooth tiger was a fearsome predator of Ice-Age America's lost giants, such as bison and horses, perhaps even mammoths. But while Smilodon ("knife tooth") may have had an impressive set of...

It was a sea of skin, peroxide and fake tan — over 1000 women in bikinis descending on Bondi Beach in an attempt to beat a world record that didn't actually exist. The event, organised as a promotion between Cosmopolitan Magazine and Gillette, aspired to set a Guiness World Record for the "world's biggest swimsuit shoot". A blend of 100 paid models and many more volunteers — mostly more interested in the free $120 goody bag than the notion of creating history — gathered in the sun. However, there was widespread confusion between the models and other attendees regarding how...

I love FR. I like the fact that the user interface remains clean and that the pages load fast. I can use it from the big screen on my desk, the small screen on my desktop, or even from my cell phone; on fiber or DSL or dial-upfrom Timbuktu.. But I have a suggestion that would make it easier to use for me, and maybe for some other folk. What I'd like to see is a "My recent threads" red-text up where the posts to/from and the new mail are. Here's how I use FR: First thing I do after...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Brett Favre picked a near-perfect way to become the winningest quarterback in NFL history. Favre completed his first 14 passes of the second half and threw three touchdown passes to rally the Green Bay Packers to a 35-13 victory over Eli Manning and the New York Giants on Sunday. The victory was the 149th of Favre's 17-year career and gave him one more than Hall of Famer John Elway. It also gave the Packers their first 2-0 start since they won their first three in 2001. The loss was the second straight for the undisciplined...

Here in Charles Co., MD, we've had a serious rash of hate crimes for the past two years or so. In today's edition of our local newspaper, the Maryland Independent, it was reported that four juveniles were arrested last week for their involvement in an August hate crime in which offensive language, such as "KKK", "Gay Pride" and obscene language, was spray-painted on 16 cars and driveways and mailboxes in a Waldorf neighborhood. The victims are all African-American. But, get this -- out of the four juveniles, THREE ARE BLACK AND ONE IS WHITE. This small column was buried in...

(NANUET, N.Y.) - Stomping on garlic with your shoes on is apparently not the correct way to prepare food. The Rockland County health department hit the Great China Buffet restaurant with two violations after someone took pictures of an employee stomping on a bowl of garlic with his boots in an alley. The man alerted health inspectors. "I go back there, and the guy's stepping on garlic," said Dan Barreto, who used to eat at the restaurant. "There he was just jumping up and down on it, smashing it up, having a good time." The health department does not consider...

I don’t often remark on entertainment subjects; this is the sort of thing I leave to people whose childhoods included eating paint chips while listening to Casey Kasem. With that said, the Britney Spears debacle during the MTV Video Music Awards is a situation that requires a comment. I will leave the topic of her lip syncing, dancing, and speculation of her intoxication level to those who were apologists for Marv Albert after he slipped on a leather teddy and bit a prostitute a decade of so ago. It is the criticism of her body that I am having a...
