The Final FReeptoon By Pcottraux It is with great sadness that I, pcottraux, on this Singles thread of November 3-5, am posting my last FReeptoon. This is the end. For those of you who may be unfamiliar, I’ve drawn a series of politically-themed cartoon strips as sort of a hobby and posted them on FR for a little over a year now. And I have to say that it has been a complete blast. When I first started, I never anticipated all the warmth, well-reception, and overall fun I’ve had not to mention all the new friends I’ve made. The...

And now the Dinklemeyer: This continues the “Field Trip” story. Now Freddy has gotten lost in the woods…something that has happened to me many times. For those of you missing the references, in an earlier strip, each member of the class was assigned an “Angry Dwarf” to follow them around to remind them to do their classwork. But Freddy “lost” his.

And now the Dinklemeyer: This Dinkelmeyer continues the “Field Trip” story. The true field trip on which this was based did in fact have a journey through secluded woods for unclear reasons. However, I didn’t actually get lost on that one. But I was notorious throughout my young age for getting lost on field trips. I decided to base this one those less-than-memorable experiences. I think we’ve all been there at one point or another.

And now the Dinklemeyer:Time has not been too kind to this Dinklemeyer strip for some reason. As the years have gone by, it has become unrecognizably smudged. For this reason, coupled with my already bad handwriting, subtitles had to be provided this week.I must ask for apologies to any vertically challenged people who may be out there reading this. The whole “work puzzle” idea is sprung from the fact that often, on field trips, the tour guides will give you some stupid worksheet to do, or the teacher will make you take notes. Who wants to do book work on a...

And now tonight’s Dinklemeyer:This is continuing the “Field trip” story. It’s probably the grossest Dinklemeyer I drew; however, sometimes tour guides can be a little on the creepy side. Not often, of course, but the ones you get when you’re on a field trip as a kid can seem a little out-there.

And now the Dinklemeyer:Tonight’s strip continues the story of the horrible class field trip. This is heavily based on a real field trip I went on shortly before drawing this. The field trip was in fact to a landfill, which was probably the lamest place we could have possibly gone. We were learning about waste management or something. This is a caricature of our tour guide, who did in fact have horrible breath. He also did a strange demonstration just like this one that involved a paint can. I still haven’t figured it out.The other students who went on the field...

And now, for tonight’s Dinklemeyer, I bring you an all new story. At this point, the Dinklemeyers became pretty much stories done in a serial form, instead of just singular cartoon strips. This one begins the “Class fieldtrip” story.I drew this story not long after a field trip (the story is loosely based on that very trip). When you’re in Elementary and Middle school, field trips are the most fun, exciting things imaginable. Unfortunately, once you enter High School, they suddenly become few and far-between, and the ones that you go on are excruciatingly lame. No more going to Washington, D.C....

And…wouldn’t you know it? We have a Dinklemeyer:This is continuing the “Freddy Gets Detention” story. I hope the text is readable to everyone: I guess my handwriting got a little sloppy that day.On the rare occasions where I would get detention, this is sort of how I remember it. It’s like being chained up in a dungeon, only it’s more of a tiny filthy classroom downstairs below the gym.And since you’re now a criminal, you are berated to shame by whatever sadistic coach is watching over you.

Aaand the Dinklemeyer:This strip continues the “Freddy gets detention story.” Again, it is very much based on something that happened to me in the 6th grade. In fact, the teacher in this strip is very much based on the my 6th grade teacher. (I got in trouble for someone stealing my book and leaving it in the middle of the floor).

And now for tonight’s Dinklemeyer:This begins a new story: “Freddy gets detention.” Here we see the bully deciding to steal Freddy’s book and run to hide it.Since starting to draw the Dinklemeyers, my drawing had improved greatly, so with this story I was able to put in a more lush and vivid background. It made the overall look a lot fuller and more pleasing to the eye.Sadly, this story is based on something that happened to me, and it was almost exactly like this…down to the nearest detail.

And the Dinklemeyer:This concludes the “Girl Smiling at Freddy” story. If it isn’t clear what’s happening, he’s simply sitting outside at night watching the moon. After something as goofy as the “Pig Acceptance” story, I kind of wanted to go back and show that the strip was going to retain its original concept, despite taking a sillier and more cartoonish air.
