The future of One America News, which established itself as a powerful voice in conservative media by promoting some of the most outlandish falsehoods about the 2020 election, is in serious doubt as major carriers drop it from their lineups and defamation lawsuits threaten to drain its finances. By the end of this week, the cable network will have lost its presence in some 20 million homes this year. The most recent blow came from Verizon, which will stop carrying OAN on its Fios television service starting Saturday. That will starve the network of a major stream of revenue: the...

Verizon Fios announced Friday that it is dropping conservative outlet BlazeTV from its channel package. Fios TV, which offers more than 425 channels, announced its decision to drop the outlet, founded by Mark Levin and Glenn Beck, in a message to subscribers on Friday. “As you know we must periodically renew our agreements with TV content providers to be able to bring you the programming available on Fios TV. At Verizon, we put our customers first in all our content decisions. We aim to provide content our customers want at a fair price,” Fios said in a note to its...

We have never had cable TV, and it was the greatest relief to me when analog television broadcasting stopped so that my kids couldn't watch TV at our house. Nobody was going to study at all, much less do Algebra II and graduate from high school, if the temptation of stupid entertainment was available, so I always refused to pay for cable. There were times I did miss television, though. When other Freepers would talk about news or sports events, when there was an election or an historic occasion, it would have been good to see for myself what they...

Right now, I have Verizon's DSL and Landline phone service. I have Comcast cable which alone is costing me over $90.00 a month! Verizon has a special (no contracts) for Fios which will include .. internet, phone and Television for $79.00 a month for one year! I have been without my cable for over a week now (comcast) due to Irene. My neighbors, who have Fios never lost their TV or internet. (I didn't lose my Verizon dsl or phone connection either.) I'm thinking of going to fios but not sure of the complications .. Inside of the house? Will...

Have you remembered to pay heed to Barack Obama worship services at his inauguration this Tuesday? If you are a Verizon customer you just might be getting an urgent reminder of this sacred duty in the form of a robocall as related by Brian Maloney of the Radio Equalizer: Yesterday, I was all set to write a smug, self-congratulatory post regarding my tremendous wisdom in finally dumping Comcast a few weeks ago for the complete Verizon Fios package, including cable. With Comcrap now establishing an all-Obama channel, isn’t it finally time to make the switch? Sadly, however, Verizon did something...

Washington, D.C. (December 30, 2008) -- On July 31, 2008, Dish Network issued a press release saying it planned to expand its high-def lineup to 150 channels by year's end. On November 1, 2007, Verizon released a press statement saying it would have 150 HD channels by the end of 2008. And several times this year, DIRECTV issued press releases saying it would have the capacity to deliver up to 150 national HD channels before the year was over. So now that the year is over (minus about a day or so), did these top TV providers keep their promises?...

PHILADELPHIA - When Henry Powderly II ordered Verizon Communications Inc.'s FiOS fiber-optic service, he knew he was about to be connected to the future of telecommunications. He also got unplugged from its past. Which meant that while Powderly was gaining features, he was losing some telecommunications options. Verizon's installer — without warning, Powderly says — removed the copper wires that used to carry his phone calls. For most of the world, copper still links homes and businesses, as it has for a century. Verizon's new high-bandwidth fiber lines are fully capable of carrying not only calls but also Internet data...
