Freerepublic.com is going to get shut down by the Secret Service for threatening President Obama's life. If it doesn't happen because of a flimsy proviso in the post discussed here, then we live in a still more dangerous world.

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes unleashed a torrent of what's being called "liberal racism" and accused Oprah Winfrey of "acting" when she stumped for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. On her show last week, Rhodes discussed Oprah's appearances on Obama's behalf, and told listeners: "She was blacker than Obama yesterday . . . Let me tell you something. Everyone who watches Oprah are the whitest people in the world . . . Even the black men who watch Oprah are white women while they watch Oprah . . . "She's like so unbelievably white . . . Why is...

Air America Radio was rescued from bankruptcy yesterday, but still faces the impending loss of Al Franken, its most popular talker. [SNIP] Mr. Green is intent on bringing solvency to Air America, which has been troubled by flagging ratings, cash deficits and management turmoil since it was founded almost three years ago as a foil to popular conservative talk radio. The network was often called "Err America" by critics. [SNIP] Niche or not, the on-air lineup will suffer when Mr. Franken leaves. He told his listeners he would depart Feb. 14 but was coy about whether he would run against...

Statesmanship: In addressing the U.N. on Tuesday, President Bush spoke truth to those nations that support terrorism and oppression, country by country. Bracing stuff, great speech. Why can't the left see that? In recent years, our president has been given a thorough trashing by America's left. As we noted earlier this week, Democrats and the media, having lost most of the debates, have taken to calling Bush names — "stupid," "murderer," "fascist" and "Beelzebub," to list a few of the milder ones. Sick with rage, they've assassinated him in the movie "The Death of a President." On the bankrupt liberal...

Minutes before showtime on a Tuesday night, Janeane Garofalo slides into the studio carrying a microphone and a backpack stuffed with research. On the desktop, she lines up provisions: a can of supercaffeinated Red Bull, a can of diet Sunkist, an enormous bottle of water. Years ago, when they were scuffling stand-up comedians, Garofalo and her friend Sam Seder used to fantasize about having their very own radio show — perhaps on a pirate station broadcasting from a garbage scow off Rhode Island, Seder had suggested.

Liberal talk radio hits Hawaii Several Hawaii stations have begun broadcasting Air America Radio programming, a mix of liberal-slanted shows that target President George W. Bush. KUMU-AM 1500 in Honolulu, KAOI-AM 1110 on Maui and KQNG-AM 570 on Kauai, all owned by Maui-based Visionary Related Entertainment, began broadcasting select Air America shows last week. KUMU plays Al Franken's "The O'Franken Factor" Monday through Friday from 6 to 9 a.m. and repeats it from 5 to 8 p.m. Franken has loudly voiced criticism of Bush and is the most visible of Air America's disc jockeys. KUMU also will broadcast "The Randi...

Even by the chaotic standards of a new media company, Air America Radio's first two months of broadcasting have been convulsive. The fledgling talk-radio network has replaced five top executives, been taken off the air in two of its top three markets and lost several crucial producers. By late April, current and former executives said last week, the company was perilously close to running out of money. It has since received an infusion of cash, though it has not disclosed how much or from whom.

Just a question...I heard that Ted Koppel was a guest on Al Unfunny Franken(stein)'s "Err Amerika" radio show today. True? Ted, supposedly an objective journalist, gave up time to be on the show of a man whose only stated objective in doing radio is to "un-elect George Bush"??

OK ... I put this last in today's notes .. but you know it had to be here. Air America, the much ballyhooed liberal talk radio network, is already on the ropes. Apparently they're bouncing checks. Listeners in Los Angeles and Chicago, what few there were, tuned in to their favorite lib-talk host yesterday only to find some Spanish-language program on the air. The owner of the two stations reportedly kicked Air America staffers out and changed the locks on the doors. He waved a check to some members of the press .. purportedly from Air America and for over...
