A Chicago Public Schools (CPS) policy allows illegal immigrant students excused absences if they or their family members are afraid of federal immigration enforcement activities in the area. A document called Chicago Public Schools’ Attendance Coding for Safety Concerns Related to Federal Representative Activity, obtained by education watchdog Defending Education, affirms that illegal immigrant students can be marked as “excused” if a parent conveys to the school that they fear federal immigration authorities. US Capitol Police have arrested three people from Georgia on weapons charges after police found them with two firearms, according to a law enforcement source. A suspicious vehicle raised concern among police, and a Capitol Police bomb squad is assessing the vehicle, the source said. Police have closed several roads in the area around the US Supreme Court and the Library of Congress. Capitol Police tweeted that “three people are being detained while we continue to investigate.”

Kerry is set to speak to more than 3,000 Guard officers gathering next week in Las Vegas, Nev., for the 126th NGAUS General Conference and Exhibition. Sen.
