After election watchdogs have documented tens of thousands of non-citizens registering to vote in swing states and Republican strongholds alike, President Donald Trump and House Republicans have backed legislation to assure only U.S. citizens vote in national elections. Standing alongside the 45th president at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced that House Republicans will “introduce legislation that requires every single person who registers to vote in a federal election must prove [he is] an American citizen.”

REDDING, Calif. — A member of Shasta County's Election Commission has resigned saying the commission has failed to live up to its original intent and "caused a great deal of confusion and created additional mistrust in our community." Dawn Ducket posted to her Facebook page Tuesday that she planned to resign immediately and called for the commission to be disbanded. The commission has been a source of controversy for making recommendations to the Shasta County Board of Supervisors including switching to a hand count of all ballots.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg (D) was told she already voted when she went to cast her ballot in the Texas primary election on Tuesday. Ogg was prevented from voting Tuesday morning because a ballot had already been cast in her name, CNN reported. She is also a candidate on the primary ballot. Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth released a statement Tuesday morning, explaining that Ogg's life partner appeared to have mistakenly voted early last week under Ogg's name.
