A New Jersey business owner used a drone to drop damaging dye into pools at homes and a motel in Atlantic County in recent weeks, authorities said. Patrick Spina IV, 45, of Absecon, was arrested at his business in Galloway on Friday after Absecon police and other law enforcement agencies tracked the drone back to Comfort Solutions Heating and Cooling, officials said. Absecon police began investigating Aug. 13 after homeowners called to say a drone hovering over their pool dropped a dye into it. The dye turned the pool water “an alarming shade of green.” Police then got reports from...
  • South Florida man cited after dog dyed to look like Pikachu from 'Pokémon'

MIAMI — A South Florida man has been cited after his dog was dyed to look Pikachu from the "Pokémon" franchise during a Miami Heat game last week. "It's made NBA history because nobody's ever seen a Pikachu dog sitting next to an NBA player before," owner Erik Torres told NBC affiliate WTVJ. But the Pomeranian's fur color had already caught the attention of Miami-Dade County Animal Services during an inspection at Torres' Doral puppy store last month. "Pikachu was in the store," Miami-Dade County Animal Services Assistant Director Kathleen Labrada said. "There was a staff member holding the dog...

Erin Dwyer has been doing a lot of waiting. After a sonogram in December, she found out that she has a growth on her right kidney and had to wait months to see a specialist. Now she’s waiting for a CT scan. When she called the radiologist’s office in early May to schedule it, “they were like, ‘OK, well, the earliest I can see you is like the first week of June,” said Dwyer, a graphic designer in Northern California. When she asked if they could possibly fit her in earlier, she said she was told: “‘There’s actually this shortage...
  • China Lockdown and Dye Shortage Lead Hospitals to Cancel Medical Scans

China’s Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns have led to a shortage of a dye widely used in medical scans, prompting U.S. hospitals including the Mayo Clinic to ration supplies, postpone procedures or switch to less optimal imaging. The shortage arose in recent weeks for iodinated contrast media products including Omnipaque, made by General Electric Co.’s GE Healthcare unit at a plant in Shanghai. Omnipaque is given by intravenous injection to patients before imaging procedures to make internal organs, blood and vessels more visible in procedures such as CT scans.
  • The Bible Described it as the Perfect, Pure Blue..for 2,000 Yrs, Everyone Forgot What it Looked Like

Forty-nine times the Bible mentions a perfect, pure blue, a color so magnificent and transcendent that it was all but impossible to describe. Yet, for most of the last 2,000 years, nobody has known exactly what “biblical blue” — called tekhelet in Hebrew — actually looked like or how it could be re-created. At the time of the Second Temple, which towered above Jerusalem until it was destroyed by the Romans, a blue dye of the same name was used to color the fabric used in the clothing of the high priests. Jewish men are still commanded to use a...

Derek Dye is spending the summer before his senior year at the University of Illinois interning for the Daytona Cubs. If an internship is supposed to offer you real world experience, Dye’s experience on Wednesday night was proof. Dye was being given the chance to run the organ music during Wednesday night’s game. There was a questionable call at first base. “Looked like our first baseman caught it, and then lost it on the transfer. So you figure the call would be out,” Dye told 94WIP’s Marc Farzetta. So Dye thought he’d have a little fun. “I played “Three Blind...

MP Christian Tybring-Gjedde - Thanks again to cecilie http://www.chinadroll.com/ Transcript below Dear National Congress, The Labour Party has turned Oslo into an ethnically divided city. In the Grorud Valley the indigenous population is moving out and non-Western immigrants are moving in. Norwegians feel ostracised in their own neighbourhoods children don't feel at ease in kindergartens, schools and leisure activities. No politicians should decide where people should live, but the reason behind thousands of people deciding to move away Is not something we politicians can just ignore. In the Grorud Valley blonde girls are harrassed into dying their hair dark. Children...

Did Obama dye his gray hair away?Photos of President Obama released this week are prompting a feverish round of "does he or doesn't he" speculation about whether our commander in chief dyed his hair. The visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao has provided the nation's pundits and politicians with plenty of serious talking points. From the potential threat posed by China's increasingly sophisticated military to the impact that Beijing's monetary policies have on the U.S. economy, there is no shortage of weighty issues. So it may be no surprise that, after Wednesday's White House dinner for Hu, the question spiking...
  • Beware Kohl's matching "doll and girl" clothing

Kohls sells clothing to fit an 18" doll, along with a matching outfit for the girl to wear. Nightgowns seem to be the most popular of these. Only, it seems someone forgot to set the dye! Perspiration from little hands causes the dye to bleed, where it then stains everything those little hands touch. (I work for a doll company, and we've been getting a lot of calls from people whose brand-new dolls are now ruined. Not to mention their sofa, carpet, wallpaper, etc, etc) Further details as they become available.

A common and safe blue food dye might provide the best treatment available so far for spinal cord injuries, U.S. researchers reported on Monday. Tests in rats showed the dye, called brilliant blue G, a close relative of the common food dye Blue no. 1, crossed into the spinal fluid and helped block inflammation, Maiken Nedergaard of the University of Rochester Medical Center and colleagues reported.

The justified hue and cry over ACORN's trying to steal this election can really be solved with a quick and clean piece of legislation that could be passed tomorrow. Require all voters on election day to dip their finger in the purple dye that the Iraqis have used since their fledgling democracy started a couple of years ago. From The Campaign Spot. Picking up from a thought by Mark Steyn, why do Iraq and Afghanistan have better protections against voter fraud and multiple voting than the United States? Why does the simple, visible, tough-to-evade purple finger ink get put...

The realization almost always prompts a double take, a moment of inspection, maybe even a debate: Is baby-faced Barack Obama, the symbol of a younger political generation, actually aging in front of us? By his own admission this week, “the gray is coming quick,” so that it now dusts his head like snowflakes. The laugh lines cut a little deeper, and the crow's-feet around his eyes appear slightly more pronounced. The presidency ages presidents, but so, it seems, has the longest campaign in modern history aged a candidate. “By the time I’m sworn in, I will look the part,” Obama...

Robbery suspect didn't bank on exploding dye pack By Deanna Boyd Star-Telegram Staff Writer FORT WORTH - Police say it was not lady Luck's lucky day. Sharon Ann Luck, 43, was arrested by police and FBI agents Wednesday morning after she robbed a Fort Worth bank, police say, and then went to her Burleson bank to deposit the stolen money. Bad luck. A dye pack in her purse exploded. Robbery Detective Mike Baggott said that shortly after 9 a.m. a woman walked into the Bank One, 6351 Camp Bowie Blvd., and handed a teller a note demanding money. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A suspect was linked to a series of bank robberies by his own bad spelling, police said. Robert C. Whitney's consistently confused the words ''dye'' and ''die'' in robbery notes given to bank tellers, police said. A note used in a Gainesville robbery read ''If a die pack blows, so do you,'' said police Sgt. Keith Kameg. The same wording had been used on notes in two Volusia County robberies, he said. ''If anything says education is important to your future, this case says that,'' Kameg said. ''As simple as spelling one word wrong was instrumental...

As they get closer to their season opener in Japan, the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners are jittery. They're not the only ones - with war possible, major league baseball is wondering whether now's the time to play ball so far from home. There were no plans Monday for the teams to call off their trip to Tokyo. The A's and Mariners are supposed to leave in a couple of days and scheduled to play a two-game series beginning March 25. But commissioner Bud Selig and baseball officials were busy talking to the State Department, the FBI and other government...
