5 years ago, I purchased an LG front load washer and dryer set. My expectations were as high as the price. About 2 years into it, the first washing machine failed and after many life intruding service calls, I got a new machine under the "lemon" provision of the warranty. This past Sunday, my "new" washer took a dump. Tub won't move. It will run an entire washing cycle and the tub never moves an inch. I have no warranty left and am not inclined to throw any more good money after bad. We're gong back to a top loader...

A couple of nights ago, my wife hollered to me that the dryer was smoking, even as she shut it down. I grabbed the machine, dragged it out of its slot, and disconnected it from power and the dryer vent, ready to drag its hot and still smoking carcass into the yard rather than have it burn the house down. The smoke was some of the most acrid I have encountered, and that includes my time as a firefighter in structural, woods, marsh/brush, boat, and vehicle fires. Before I made it to the threshhold, though, the fire burned out. With...

Sorry to post a vanity. I have been shopping for washers and possibly a dryer. The utility room is only 52" wide. The prior owner had found a 25" Whirlpool washer and 26" GE dryer. The dryer still works. I would like to get feedback from others.

Here is a video report on an Ohio man who has been arrested for allegedly putting his seven-year-old daughter in a Clothes Dryer and turning it on. The child reportedly told a teacher at school that she had been put in the dryer, and the school officials notified Children's Services. The child has a condition that keeps her from growing at a normal rate, so she is only about three feet tall. It appears the man allegedly has done this before as some form of punishment. . . . Attorneys in Kansas say 27-year-old Aron Pritchard, was punishing his girlfriend's children when he stuffed them in a clothes dryer and turned it on. The three-year-old boy, and his two-year-old sister, were allegedly jammed into the dryer after the boy urinated in his pants. The girl was uninjured, but the boy suffered second degree burns that went untreated for more than a week. Ardy Wuthnow, Children's grandfather, said, "It's heartbreaking. I've seen him now, since all this has taken place and there's permanent scars." The children's mother left their father when he returned from military service in Iraq. The biological...
